Do you think draft registration, but not the draft, should be re-instituted to be better prepared in case of a national emergency?

Be prepared for the worst and hope for the best. Isn't the way people write contracts? A side effect would be that more young men and women will attend college for a potential deferment.

Certainly all citizens 18 and over should be registered...male and female. If we have a no kidding dire emergency on US soil, the draft should indeed be used. For the political "emergencies" around the world, not so much.

Draft registration is the law for all able bodies males age 18 and above it is called the Selective Service System. Personally I would like to see the mandate expanded to women 18 and older.

Did selective service registration ever stop? I thought it was still going for all men 18 years old and older.
