Really, the cold war was defined by the tension between two nations, the U.S. and Russia, who both had the ability to launch weapons of mass destruction if the correct set of circumstances were to arise. I think that we have already been dealing with a similar situation with N. Korea and we can probably add some of the middle east, most notably Syria, to that situation as well (although there is no evidence of Nuclear weapons at this time, I am almost even more inclined to be worried about the pain and suffering that chemical and biological weapons can create over the quick destruction of nuclear weapons). I think that until we are able to reign in many of these extremist nations that we will remain in a semi-cold war state.
