If you think it should be a requirement for all soldiers to get some SERE training then it should be incorporated into Basic Training.Response by LTC Private RallyPoint Member made Feb 27 at 2014 2:42 PM2014-02-27T14:42:59-05:002014-02-27T14:42:59-05:00CPT Private RallyPoint Member66013<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>It would be a waste of time and resources for the vast majority of Soldiers. I understand the arguments that we are most likely facing assymetric battlefields in the future and 'all Soldiers are at risk' but, honestly, I don't see support personnel needing this. Now, if you suggested incorporating it into all the teen series MOSs (11-Infantry, 12-Engineer, 13-FA, 19-Armor) that are the most at risk and making it part of their AIT, that would make more sense.Response by CPT Private RallyPoint Member made Feb 27 at 2014 3:38 PM2014-02-27T15:38:52-05:002014-02-27T15:38:52-05:00SFC Chris Johnson66042<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>There are aspects of it that could be taught in a classroom environment that could benefit, and be adapted for most Soldiers. But the complete course as it stands is simply something I feel is neither appropriate nor necessary for a brand new soldier. It used to be open to soldiers outside USASOC, though I only knew one Soldier(11B) who took the time to coordinate with USAJFKSWCC and attend it of his own accord. We all thought he was crazy at the time. It's an exceptional school that teaches a great deal more than what most think of it as, but unfortunately, it's just not an option to send everyone who wants to attend, much less require everyone to complete it Response by SFC Chris Johnson made Feb 27 at 2014 4:16 PM2014-02-27T16:16:24-05:002014-02-27T16:16:24-05:001SG(P) Private RallyPoint Member66049<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>As for SERE High Risk (Level C), there's at least two hurdles. The first is sheer numbers. The second is that all attendees must have a SECRET clearance.<br>Response by 1SG(P) Private RallyPoint Member made Feb 27 at 2014 4:24 PM2014-02-27T16:24:19-05:002014-02-27T16:24:19-05:00SFC Private RallyPoint Member66539<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>It should be a predeployment requirement.Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Feb 28 at 2014 10:23 AM2014-02-28T10:23:07-05:002014-02-28T10:23:07-05:00SFC Private RallyPoint Member66545<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Making SERE a requirement at AIT will ensure a bunch dropouts or failures. I think Soldiers need to be in for a minute before the attend but before deployment. They can take a SERE online course (same that is required in Korea) at AIT as a requirement but other than that it should wait.Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Feb 28 at 2014 10:27 AM2014-02-28T10:27:33-05:002014-02-28T10:27:33-05:00SGT(P) Private RallyPoint Member66635<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I would feel sorry for a great deal of them if that were the case.Response by SGT(P) Private RallyPoint Member made Feb 28 at 2014 1:10 PM2014-02-28T13:10:01-05:002014-02-28T13:10:01-05:00SSG Private RallyPoint Member71289<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Keep in mind there are 3 levels of SERE training. Regardless of MOS, any Soldier involved in a tactical ground movement could find themselves in a scenario where that knowledge is needed. Not sure about the security clearance requirements for 225, but if a week long class for pre-deployment was implemented, I'm sure that an unclassified curriculum could be created. <br>Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Mar 7 at 2014 6:20 AM2014-03-07T06:20:29-05:002014-03-07T06:20:29-05:002014-02-27T13:39:03-05:00
