Do you see the US acting the same? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/do-you-see-the-us-acting-the-same <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>In western Nepal there was violence over the fact the country is proposing a New Constitution. Do you think we would be the same with Violence and the killing of Police officer trying to keep the peace? I want to say no but with events in recent history I would say it's not far from fact. <a target="_blank" href="http://www.cnn.com/2015/08/25/asia/nepal-police-protester-deaths/index.html">http://www.cnn.com/2015/08/25/asia/nepal-police-protester-deaths/index.html</a> Tue, 25 Aug 2015 07:53:37 -0400 Do you see the US acting the same? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/do-you-see-the-us-acting-the-same <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>In western Nepal there was violence over the fact the country is proposing a New Constitution. We have the ability to amend ours so no need to reinvent the wheel. Even with recent events and mass killings America in her principal will not change. Where there could be issues are where we are now; state vs. federal rights, and even that isn't truly a violent affair, but rather a prolonged legal battle. With that, the real winners are us, and the lawyers who take these to court. Our system isn't perfect by any means, but it's solid. There is no other government in history that has lasted as long as ours has without being overthrown or did away with. To do so now with the corrupt and greedy at the helm would throw us into chaos... I think the creation of amendments are sufficient enough as they are specific enough that everyone can understand what's being added, versus a complete re-write where many would act, having never even read it. Not to say they wouldn't do it with amendments either, but it is the lesser of two evils... The idiots in DC now won&#39;t even read the one that we have now. If a new constitution was proposed, it would protect the rich and the corporations. It would take away the rights of the people, and yes lead to violence, protesting, and worst case scenario a civil war. A civil war that would the US Military right in the middle of it. Futhermore in a crisis such as that, would the military who swore an oath to support and defend the constitution be honor bound to defend a new constitution against the people they are supposed to be defending? It would make a great alternative history fiction, but would be a disaster in reality. We have a constitution that has worked for 239 years. The only change we need is in the mentality of those representing the interests of the people rather than a wholesale change of our constitution.
