However, that brings to mind; what pay grade Marine is considered a Staff NCO? Has that changed also? You listed E-3 as a Corporal and in my time, E-3 was a Lance/Corporal. E-4 was a Corporal. E4 permanent in the USMC. left Camp Pendleton 2 April 59 with 3 stripes on my arm. certificate in my duffle bag. was transferred to Marine reserve unit inactive. last I heard from the Marine Corps till June 1963 when I was sent my honorable discharge , it said Cpl. E-4 . what a surprise for me. The Marine Corps took a stripe from me with no explanation , no notice no anything. I have been trying for 8 years to get my service records. I get one sheet of paper from records showing 9 items, 4 where I bought clothing from another Marine and changed names, one sheet of paper with nine items for four years of my life, and took a stripe along with it. deployed 3 times. made rank, qualified with M1 and 45 pistol. short medical record from hand injury, letter of thanks from Bn. commander, nothing but one sheet of paper. And discharge with lose of a stripe. was awarded the China Ser. medal by the SECNV verified by 1st Lt, officer USMC. commandant tells they have no record of the medal. it's on my DD 214 which came with my discharge , also showing Cpl. E-4
YES SIR I DO REMEMBER SGT. E-4 First time I was ever demoted in cognito.
I was told by different organizations I belong to, to use my last rank . not the pay grade. no way I can change my profile pic, and remove one of the stripes.
