Of course the modern version is the Blog, and Twitter and other social media. It is unfortunate that many soldier's resort to these before approaching the command with an issue, and IG is left out of the loop too often. Still, in the day of instant gratification, getting spotlighted on facebook gets stuff done, good and bad. The OSW was very inspiring to many drafted soldiers, and was of course not well liked by commanders caught with their pants down. Eventually, the IGs started investigating things long before most of it could become a news story on it's own and turned the dog around; in other words there was more public accountability--which is a lot more than the fake "transparency" we talk about so much today and yet cannot see because the propaganda fog remains too thick. Edwin Walker, commander of the U.S. Army's 24th Infantry Division in Augsburg. In a front-page story, the newspaper accused Walker of brainwashing soldiers with right-wing materials from the John Birch Society[4] In return, Walker condemned the OW as "immoral, unscrupulous, corrupt and destructive."[5] Relieved of his command and passed over for promotion, Walker resigned from the U.S. Army that October.[6] Response by A1C Bob Jones made Nov 3 at 2018 8:15 PM 2018-11-03T20:15:39-04:00 2018-11-03T20:15:39-04:00 2014-11-01T16:19:29-04:00
