Do you own anything that you’d shoot someone to stop them from stealing it?

I not talking about family/friends. I mean things/possessions/inanimate objects.
I might shoot someone trying to steal our dog, which only counts as an inanimate object after he’s been chasing his Wubba around the RV for 30 minutes. On the other hand, he is a fellow Jarhead.

Im no attorney and I didnt stay at a Holiday Inn last night...but if you shoot someone, you are going to have quite the legal hassle that might not compare to the object you had stolen.

I would not shoot someone to defend stuff. HOWEVER having said this, I would shoot because they violated the sanctity of my home. So I would not shoot a man to protect my TV BUT I would blast him to Mars to keep him away from my TV.

The right answer is no. In SC, you can shoot someone if in the process of committing a felony. However, it is not our place to determine what constitutes a felony. Right or wrong, I will most likely face prison time. So, NO. This is just tapping the surface of my answer.

Honestly, no. But I'd shoot a perpetrator if I caught him in my home. How do I know if he's only there to steal an object? How do I know he won't harm my family and myself to protect his anonymity? I don't. Anyone who enters my home unlawfully will be shot. I don't need to analyze his intent.

I'm not a materialistic person so if someone thought they needed something I owned more then I did I know I can alsways afford to replace it. Being an artisan you really don't need much in life because you know how to build something from almost nothing.
The only thing I really value is life. But if I had to find an excuse to pull out my buck shot and entertain myself with a moving target I think it would be over some antique tractor equipment used as yard art on my ranch.

No, I was raised to believe that human life is the top of the priority list. Understood that equation changes in times or places of war but in peacetime America I think it would be irresponsible to shoot someone for stealing anything. The item can be replaced......the life cannot.

Yes any weapons that I have I would shoot someone to keep them from taking them because I don't want them used for evil. Besides that nothing. I can get more stuff, really I have to much stuff as it is but I am not going to get rid of it I like my stuff.

I would like to think that there is nothing that I am that attached to that would make me take another's life or an attempt on it. We often think of our "stuff" as an extension of ourselves. We identify with the "stuff" we own and when we are faced with circumstances where we feel or see them about to be taken we feel like "WE" are being violated. In actuality....everything is impermanent and is designed to pass away from our lives. I feel that as long as someone is not trying to actually trying to physically harm me or others...well....that is the only time I will probably take action to prevent human loss. Everything else can be replaced. There is the sense of being violated though that we all hate. That is a fear that we all have. We all have our space and no one should be in it without our consent. So I guess...it is not the taking of stuff that I accumulated that I would be secondarily shocked about. Primarily....I would be pissed about someone being in my home...my safe place. The place where my ego lives.

I will never shoot to kill! Only to neutralize the threat. I shoot how I was taught many years ago, center mass of my target. Saying or posting that you would kill someone for breaking into your home might not be the best thing to do. You may have to convince 12 other folks that the shooting was justified. I would not just shoot you for being in home or kicking my door. I will be ready to react as the situation develops though.

Two years ago I witnessed two miscreants attempt to steal my $400 sap tank (maple sap, used to make maple syrup). I had it locked around a tree, and I heard them discuss coming back after dark. When they left I retrieved three 12 gauge trip-wire alarms and ringed the tank with them, and put up two game cameras. The video from the cameras is priceless and I've never had a problem since.

Nope. I have a separate entrance to my basement. I've told my wife that somebody can haul every tool I own out of the basement while I wait for the cops to show up, long as I'm between the door and my family. Same is true for the garage. Load up, and make off with it. I have no interest in shooting anybody. However, I WILL, if my family is threatened.

I live in a state where anyone who is on my property uninvited I have the right to put lead in them. Being a retired MP though I will follow a levels of force philosophy. Then, if I reach it, I will put lead in them.

I am not going to analyze intent. In the event someone forcefully enters my home or enters without my purpose for reasons, unknown to me, I will assume the intent is to do harm to me or my family. I would take steps to stop that threat. If somebody is on my property (not inside my home) and I see them attempting to take something from my property, such as a car or patio furniture, I would attempt to detain them for LEO's to handle.
