Take every school and sponge it up even if it is a “nice to have” rather than a requirement.Response by LTC Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 5 at 2018 1:28 AM2018-04-05T01:28:19-04:002018-04-05T01:28:19-04:00SFC(P) Private RallyPoint Member3513742<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Don't need it but it won't hurt to have.Response by SFC(P) Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 5 at 2018 4:52 AM2018-04-05T04:52:49-04:002018-04-05T04:52:49-04:00SMSgt Thor Merich3514348<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I actually don’t see too many pilots with a AAB. Pilots fly, they don't have to rappel, sling load, etc. They FLY. It can help if they are qualified, so as to understand what is going on. But to force them to qual is like having a surgeon go to Ranger school to learn how to tie knots.Response by SGM Bill Frazer made Apr 5 at 2018 11:08 AM2018-04-05T11:08:47-04:002018-04-05T11:08:47-04:00SPC Erich Guenther3514647<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Let me put it another way. If you were to buy a local McDonalds Restaurant. As the owner, wouldn't you want to know how the GM was trained? How the crews were trained. While it maybe true the GM's job to manage those people, wouldn't you be a little curious if the GM was doing a good or bad job? Same concept. If your going to do Air Assault Operations, in my view it helps you to know what everyones responsibility on the combined team is. Plus, it is a fairly easy school to pass.Response by SPC Erich Guenther made Apr 5 at 2018 11:27 AM2018-04-05T11:27:06-04:002018-04-05T11:27:06-04:00SSG Private RallyPoint Member3514660<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I've no idea where you came up with that or who told you that, but no. Either way, Air Assault is good to have and to be a pilot, you've got a long way to go from PFC to flying, take advantage of Air Assault if they offer it.Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 5 at 2018 11:29 AM2018-04-05T11:29:08-04:002018-04-05T11:29:08-04:00CPT Private RallyPoint Member3515247<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Nope.Response by CPT Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 5 at 2018 2:51 PM2018-04-05T14:51:10-04:002018-04-05T14:51:10-04:001SG Ken Bedwell3515815<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Nope.Response by 1SG Ken Bedwell made Apr 5 at 2018 6:39 PM2018-04-05T18:39:36-04:002018-04-05T18:39:36-04:00SPC Joshua Brumley3516417<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>AA is technically an optional school in that you have the option of either going if the bosses say so, or getting several rations of grief if you turn it down. I don't know if it's still true, but AA school was all but manditory for Ft. Campbell; it wasn't a matter of if you'd go, but when. So even pilots would go through the school eventually. 10th Mtn and 25th ID also had schools, but they were less open to everyone than Sabulaski ever was. :)Response by SPC Joshua Brumley made Apr 5 at 2018 11:01 PM2018-04-05T23:01:42-04:002018-04-05T23:01:42-04:00SGT Private RallyPoint Member3517281<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Thanks for input guys just curious because i was offered air assault here at fort hoodResponse by SGT Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 6 at 2018 9:22 AM2018-04-06T09:22:23-04:002018-04-06T09:22:23-04:00MAJ Private RallyPoint Member3539656<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Not a requirement but if you understood the curriculum of the AASLT school, you'd see that it enhances their knowledge and understanding of the roles and the true importance of air assault operations.Response by MAJ Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 13 at 2018 8:55 AM2018-04-13T08:55:43-04:002018-04-13T08:55:43-04:00CW4 Private RallyPoint Member3550301<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I’m was Air assault before I became a pilot.
