We're fortunate to have people like him on our side. Ken Taylor provided refuge to six American diplomats during the seizure of the U.S. embassy in Tehran. He helped to ensure that these men and women came back to the United States. Please take a moment to reflect on that.
Do you know who Ken Taylor, the person who inspired the movie Argo is? 2015-10-15T22:29:05-04:00 CPT Private RallyPoint Member 1044002

Ken Taylor the Canadian Ambassador who inspired the movie Argo has passed away. It is good to know that as the Canadian Ambassador to Iran provided refuge to six American diplomats during the 1979 takeover the of the US Embassy in Tehran. I well remember the Desert One mission disaster.
When I was assigned to Germany in 1981, I was able to purchase a Dodge Omni destined for Iran when the hostage situation occurred. The ship containing the vehicles was diverted and the only ones authorized to purchase the vehicles were military personnel assigned OCONUS. I purchased the vehicle at a very low cost with one years of auto insurance thrown in for free - that was a good deal for a young infantry 2nd LT. We told everyone he was from Turkey because of the Iran hostage situation. The world hated Iran. But I was in the 9th grade, so politics did matter to me then. He and his family were good people.
