How is it any of the business of any employer the details of your illness?

Doctors note....When you have a cold or the flu...most people don't go to the doctor...they buy over the counter medicine and sweat it out at home...and especially with obamacare, most people can't afford to go....so how the heck are they going to bring a doctors note?

Schools do this too...which is a crock...you can't get your kid back in school or they get an un excused absence if they don't have a doctors note....a lot of kids parents either can't afford to take them to the doctor or can't afford to take off work to take them...

I think "getting a doctors note" is a crock!Response by Sgt Kelli Mays made Sep 23 at 2015 12:04 AM2015-09-23T00:04:06-04:002015-09-23T00:04:06-04:00SGT Jerrold Pesz986333

I never really cared why an employee wasn't going to be there. Most employee handbooks have a clause about them being able to ask for a doctor's note upon return. Generally speaking, it's based on the employee though. Those who are constantly sick, aren't going to get hit with it. Those who are...

I've always had the Marine Corps Policy. Medical is at work, so I may as well go to work. If I'm good enough to go to work, I don't need to stay home. Usually, I just email my boss and tell them I am not feeling well and that I am taking sick leave. They never ask anything about it after that.
