RP Members and Connections share a picture of your "love-me" walls you've set up in your office or special location in your "Man-Cave or Woman Cave"!

I've had all my stuff packed away for a lot of years and just started getting some of up on the wall in my new location. I've got tons of Eagle Statutes stored still and I'm setting up organizers to get them displayed soon.

Here are just a view pitures of my office and the start of my (4) "Love me" walls. I even have a dining facility named after me (89th Sus Bde Dining Facility) and I collect "Eagles". I've got tons of them stored away and I'm building a set of organizers to get them displayed before they break in boxes.

I used to have an "I Like Me" wall, COL Mikel J. Burroughs. It was in a downstairs (finished basement) playroom, and not obtrusive at all, or so I thought. Got the word it was too much, and it came down!
Now, in my study, all that's left is a shadowbox, and my original commission as a second lieutenant!

I used to post pictures of my family with "sheepskin" from USMA, West Point; CAS3 and CGSC on one side of my office and on the back wall I posted the citations from my medals and some of the more distinctive plaques I received COL Mikel J. Burroughs. When we were evicted in June 2014, I think most of my pictures, plaques and medal citations were packed and moved.
I hope in the next year or two to be able to move to our single floor retirement home. I intend to decorate the study or office with appropriate sheepskin, plaques and medal citations.

I call it my John Kerry collection because I had lost my awards and decorations when I lost my first family. Then I heard John Kerry was parading his to win elections. Where did they come from? We well-remembered the famous news photos of him throwing his away onto the White House lawn to protest the Vietnam War. That's when I learned that you could apply for a one-time replacement. The other items are more recent. Certificates of appreciation from the State of California and my son's Cub Scout den that I led. There were others but they too were lost. ...and Grumpy Cat stands guard. Who else would you expect?

I like the eagles COL Mikel J. Burroughs My twin brother Kevin, also a Nam vet has a collection of eagle in his office. You will see him in some of the pictures I am posting. One is the only picture i have of him and I in Vietnam together. The other pic is him and I and Col Leo Thorsness, Medal of Honor recipient and POW. A real gentleman to say the least. And the other pic is me, my twin brother and my brother Michael, a now retired FDNY Fire Marshal.

I have two walls. One is this one with my medals and award. The other is objects I've collected over the years, or have been given to me, or the helicopters I made. One of my cousins drew the Casket picture.

Nope. Don't know why. The only thing I have hanging up is a battalion photo hanging up with companies in line with platoons in line with M1151 and M114s in the rear of the formation and on the flanks. I really like that photo.

Used too. Trouble is most worth displaying did not survive the many moves even after retiring. I do have a home office now and my curios are mostly dedicated to my Father, Uncle and Father in Law. I do have this display of "Challenge Coins", most of which had no challenge to them.

As I've posted previously on Rallypoint what few awards and commendations,pictures etc that I accumulated in my short time in the Military are displayed in my storage area/ work room I feel they only have meaning for me,and to tell the whole truth my wife would not let me put them anywhere in her house and Heaven forbid you don't go against "She who must be Obeyed"!

No, I don't. I keep very little militaria in the open. Even when I was on active duty, I didn't decorate my office with much swag with the exception of my recruiting tour. I keep a few group pictures out, my charge book vessel and my bronzed boots, and that's about it. I'm retired and I don't think it's good form to dine out on my own coattails.

Here is some of my stuff (dustcatchers) on my office walls. My wife told me when I retired to get it out of the house. Some of it is still at home in boxes. My prize in the office is a picture of a WWI bomber that is signed by the pilot William Lawley, Jimmy Doolittle, Curtis Lemay, and the artist. It was passed down to me by a mentor and one day I will pass it down to another to keep it going. My other prize picture is at home. It is a Lone Wolf superimposed over the names of all the AF recruits that signed up when I was a recruiting SQ commander. I have been able to locate some of them on the picture that have worked with me that are now E-5s/Es and some E7s.

Well, right now I have a "love me" set of boxes. I suppose when I set up my home office I should put some of that <ahem> "stuff" on the wall.

But on the table by my door, I do have my "beret" from my beloved Arctic Defenders, and in my wallet I carry a coin given me by one of my Navy Chiefs from my last deployment.

I'm going to be honest, I love these pictures. They're giving me a lot of ideas for building my own. All of my stuff is currently in a chest away from the hands of young children. But I would definitely enjoy sharing some pictures when I take them.

No I have nothing on any wall that would tell you I'm a Soldier. Look at my cars, it's a different ball game. 1st ID is on all of them. When I was working, all the folks would list their certs in their signature, mine would have my name(usually just my last) and "DUTY FIRST" in red.

Looks fantastic. For a long while I collected Eagles as well. They, at least to me Symbolize everything I am proud of in this country. Freedom, indomitable spirit, and strength. I think some of the things this proud bird of prey symbolizes to me no longer exist in the US. Character, Honesty, Willingness to help others for no other reason than it's the right thing to do, Patriotism, and the mindset that this country IS the Best country that ever existed on the planet. Otherwise, why do so many try to get here?

Love the challenge coins !! In 1996 after my ma passed we were packing up the house and I still had some of my things in her basement. While at work, my older brother decided to box some of my things. I found my medal citations folded in with tax records and my medal rack in the bottom of a box all bent to hell. I was crushed. I didnt even know how to react. Last year I finally got relacements and this time my younger brother practically begged me to allow him to build my shadow box. Last I heard he hadnt started it yet. Truth is, this is just anothet example of how little my family understands or even cares about what was a very big part of my life. Now I am trying to build a shadow box on my own, but it is so cost prohibitive I dont know if I can finish.

COL Mikel J. Burroughs The eagle required 2 wires and hooks, directions for the saber holder are glued to the back. It only took 20 years to put the ALL of the stuff on a wall.

I honestly don't know what happened to all my stuff. Uniforms medals awards certificates. I had a letter of commendation from General Hugh Shelton. I miss that one the most, but I suppose divorce moving getting remarried who knows. Some day I will research and build one up, but I know that it's expensive to buy some of these medals and awards

No but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express once. Seriously, I have stuff scattered all over the house on various walls or static displays including military memorabilia, coats of arms and so forth. I'm most proud of a Bradford Mint piece a cousin gave me of the Iwo Jima flag-raising. I have my large framed Shellback certificate and the card tucked safely away should I ever cross the Equator afloat again. Coffee mugs, engraved canteen cups, a few K-Bars laying around and even a Budweiser can I picked up in Haifa, Israel that is printed in their language.. It's amazing how much stuff we pick up over the years. Don't want to violate any advertising policies of RP but would like to share a link for a Retired Marine I know. He was a LCpl and Infantry Weapons Tech in our Maintenance Platoon with 24 MEU. We had just finished our second float to Somalia and the weekend we got home things got rough in Haiti. We got called back out to re-embark and sailed after about a week home. All the brass flew out while we were off the coast for morale visits; including then CNO Admiral Mike Boorda and Commandant USMC Gen. Mundy. Per the norm they wanted the Commandant to award a Navy Achievement Medal and because of LCpl Owens long hours getting weapons up I did a quick write up. We mustered with the Boat Company of the Infantry BN on the flight deck of USS Trenton for the ceremony. Owens had no idea what was up as he had just been told to fall out of formation, but was called forward and awarded his Medal from the Commandant. He retired as a MSgt and recipient of Purple Heart for service and resides near Camp Lejeune, NC. He makes some very impressive stuff and I'd encourage anyone to give him a look. My wife and I are both retired Navy and have over 43 years of stuff everywhere. I did set up my man cave with lots of my gear. I worked hard for and earned every thing I have. Besides, I am always a young man, everywhere I look. This my old one as I can't load my phone pics.

I do. My husband made a shadow box for me. Also pictured is a pyramid of coins, a hat that belonged to my grandfather noting Vietnam service, a picture of grandpa, my husbands beret, and a camouflage hat with an American flag that I wear every so often.

My wife surprised me some years ago when I came back from one of my extended stays in Wyoming. She dug out a bunch of awards I received as. Treasury Dept. Special Agent and put them up as a "Love Me " wall. In addition she re decorated my whole man cave including laying a hardwood floor, by herself. In her words" this is your Birthday, Christmas and Anniversary present for the next ten years. I was happy with it to say the least!

Until I met my lovely wife, I had no desire to display any awards or accolades from my military career. Then she created my LOVE ME wall in our home office. The only thing not pictured is my challenge coin shadow box. My collection was stolen and I'm slowly collecting coins from all commands I was assigned.

The 3 flags were flown over Camp Dwyer, Helmand River Valley, Garmsir District, AFG during my retirement ceremony.

I do not as of right now. However, I have been gathering the different uniforms and pieces that I wore during my time in. As wel as whatever certs, docs and letters I can find. To leave as some sort of legacy for my children after I'm gone. All the different Army, Navy and Marine Corps uniforms while I was in. If they even care to know. Lol, my oldest will I think but my youngest is kind of a millennial and doesn't seem to care about much but herself at this point. Lol, anyway, that's what I've been doing. Thx for the post.

There wasn't a lot of "love" flowing around when I got back from the Nam. Threw away most everything that had to do with Nam or the Marines back than. Almost 3 generations ago, different time, different place, different life. I'll always be proud that I served, and thank daily, agent-orange for the life long pains it's given me. My wall of love, my legacy now, is my Bible!

My wife tells me all the time that I'm not sentimental and it's pretty much true. 99% of my military stuff is either in boxes in the attic or a closet. I don't even have diplomas hanging at work. Every now and then I pull some stuff out and look through it. If I had a bigger house with an office or something that was just dedicated to me I'd probably display some of it. But as it stands, the only thing hanging (in my garage) is a unit flag that was signed by all my platoon members that I deployed with.

I have a frame with unit crests and the very few "I was alive" awards that I got. Cold War medics/NG tankers/artillerymen did'nt get much. I also only got two challenge coins, as I got out shortly after I first saw them. Nothing impressive, certainly, although I'm proud of my Madigan Emergency Medical Team badge.
