Is it MOS specific? Or is it based om assingment or orders?

I did saw a memorandum on the issue but it is a little dated and there is no good amount of info on it. Supposedly his language is on the list for those applicable for the pay incentive. Do you get paid for speaking Mandarin? Is it MOS specific? 2017-10-31T18:08:32-04:00 SGT(P) Private RallyPoint Member 3051549

I have a friend that went through The language test for his language (Mandarin), however he is still not getting paid or anything like that. Your friend has to pass two of the three areas with a certain level of proficiency (reading, writing, speaking). If he did not pass then he will not get paid. I have a friend that is from China and speaks fluent Mandarin and he barely passed, after taking it twice. If you want to know more about it check the link below. It contains everything you ever wanted to know about pay in the military. You want to go to chapter 19 for this. Good luck, I hope this helps.
http://comptroller.defense.gov/Portals/45/documents/fmr/Volume_07a.pdf

Volume_07a.pdf

ñÆüÍí3wÉïÏÏégO|`HQs}ùlßãîkýsmù»sìr§|ÎÚ§äßíÓãÙSíÉñiùßÏ?¿ÖqÞå«Û9Ýwïì)VÌ'\;Ã_öáÿòçG·O;K¶WíMïÉYþlçZêû~AÌõ5ç5ÓÇrÖ?ûolþXÇÏ|2eÌ·¿'ï~~;/ÓKÚøùÓuÙþl?µ;ï¿wüÜl¿.ïri^ùÙóGíN?ÞòÙÆ|þá¶]çeùæìyÇÞMëÆé*ÍyOÍ?ÎqNu^ß]qgëkªþOhWîÖò1_=Çv]ã0ÆûøSÙþÑl¿SËîíý¿=ooÎ\GÓÛ·l=^WÖÈÿBÌ+0óíüìÌWsª=ohøøÙþ-Çsçÿ0åÒáÙ_ãJe_ÛÞêûµÏ¿Ür/ê\üf7?íé'âÇÛµ0| î2sB7sf29ëfìÌ·ÓIñª6cîCÆgóUÙÎkÈ55ä»uNåW¶ûòüÃáùv_Xÿ]öä[évzoöÔ|~6{ùmv]?2{Î:æÌVæùÓ¿î_ÒÞîYSÖÓ mLæSÛ58]ÖfevúúøVÈxüùmÖKOH{ñnmÑÿóì¿Í65Ëöýíî9ýC[uÔUVw...

Response by PO1 Jamie Springman made Oct 31 at 2017 7:25 PM 2017-10-31T19:25:15-04:00 2017-10-31T19:25:15-04:00 CPT Private RallyPoint Member 3052219

Its called FLPP (Foreign Language Proficiency Pay). However, Mandarin is no longer a paying language since 2013. Check the latest memo from Army G2 on FLPP eligible languages. It varies from year to year based on Army's need. I'm a CM linguist myself and like 1LT Li stated, it fell off the priority list in 2013 putting the billet requirement in effect.
