Khan Academy has just released a fantastic resource for anyone trying to get a better handle on his/her personal finances. In 20 short videos, the longest of which is only 18 minutes, they very succinctly break down all the major areas of personal finance and explain them in a way that makes sense and that one can learn from. This is an excellent resource for people of all stages of life and all ages. This Reddit link details very clearly what each video is about and hyperlinks the title so that you can watch it immediately.

Elizabeth Malkin I love Khan academy and use them for many MOC type of classes. I really like Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace/Total Money Makeover courses and driving to debt free is a great way to reduce risk and give you and your family mental and spiritual peace.

Unless you're a CPA or CFP, not many people understand personal finance - let alone military personnel. This checklist is an excellent tool for dealing with personal finance and putting in plain English.

I still have no idea what any of these mean, my current employer sends me 401K thing that has a bunch of numbers on it and no one has explained it to me.

Great resource - It's always baffled me why subjects like personal finance are not pushed more in high school or in college - They teach you how to drive a car but nothing in how to go bout buying one. Not saying that they need to teach evaluating of stocks but time value of money is the core of understanding investing.

Auto-payments, initiative to ask questions the moment I don't understand something, and proactive learning before I need to know certain topics help a bit. I have a good grasp on credit reports and TSP, thanks to ACAP/TAP/SFL/transition resources. Oh, and I know mutual funds are safer than stocks. That's all I got.
