Ok, so after I heard the speech Sunday night I sat there and wondered what planet Obama was living on cause it can't possibly be Earth.
During his whole speech I felt like he was lost and frankly didn't really give a crap. His last speech before this one........ he's more concerned about Climate change than anything else...seriously, he's living in la la land and not taking the serious issues seriously......or is it me that's on another planet?
Okay, so I was blown away that he actually called the San Bernardino incident an act of terrorism...but still....I don't think he's in the same reality as I am...especially when it comes to ISIS....oh, and the Syrians he's bringing over and dumping in our laps.

When I first read your discussion title Sgt Kelli Mays my thoughts drifted to the Men in Black movie series. That made my chuckle.
I don't think POTUS Obama is a space alien. Of course I don't have perfect knowledge.
Yes POTUS Obama is publicly more concerned with "global climate change" than more mundane things such as limited [from his perspective] terroristic attacks whether they are in Paris or San Bernardino.
I prefer that the POTUS would use his bully pulpit to applaud what the French are doing right now which is closing mosques where the wahhabi islam doctrinal venom is spewed. I do not expect him to make any such statements in this lifetime.

The speeches that he gives are like the weekly updates President Roosevelt used to give the people. The topics try to focus on the issues that are of significance that week. The topic of climate change topic was significant due to the global conference being held. Last weeks topic was to bring awareness to a yet another senseless mass killing. I wish that congress would act and start legislating laws that will protect against mental illness patients who are threats to security owning weapons. But let's not get crazy and think a congress led by this majority will help regular people.

Trust me it's not just you, Sgt Kelli Mays. Obama's speech was uninformative and left more questions than answers for the average American. Although I applaud his stance on climate control, I did feel that the timing, after the Paris attacks, and his stating at that time that climate changed is the greatest challenge facing the world today, was really unsympathetic, and showed a lack of feeling and character.

Likewise, releasing a statement about gun control in America within 12 hours after the San Bernardino shooting, left many with the feeling that out POTUS is only looking out for his own political agenda, and not so much the good of the people who were actually affected by this Islamist terrorist act.

I thought the president looked very tormented Sunday night. I thought he looked old. One of the techniques he had the US embark on -- drone strikes -- may be causing wanna be jihadis in this country to become radical. That must be a bitter pill for him.

I will chip in. Lets point to some facts here, in 46 years of age he never had a full time employment, and was always a community organizer. He was raised a muslim going to a madrasa until god knows when, and somewhere he converted to Christianity. That is not an issue, but the lack of experience, and his inner circle friends like Bill Ayers, Jeremiah Wright, et all, can give a good perspective on who he is, and what he brings to the table, in addition to what has been demonstrated in his administration, such as gun running operations by the AG/DOJ, catastrophic implementation and passing of OBAMACARE, the IRS usage as means to mute free speech, allowing the SOS to use an unsecure server for over 4 years, the billions spent on green energy failed projects, his wrongful approach to international matters such as Russia, ISIS, China, the Arab spring, Iran deal, etc, and his insistence that the world’s most urgent troubles is climate change and republicans, gives an idea that he can definitely be delusional. Who ever complains about him, has every right to do so, such is the nature of our democracy, it is not racial in overtones, but reality these days are that we are more racially divided than ever, that we have a threat living among us, willing to kill us, and the world is not a safer place.

I just hold him accountable to what the constitution allows him to do, and he has overstepped the boundaries, in most the already aforementioned situations, as well as his insistence that he can override laws, such as immigrations and welfare and enforce only the laws he “feels” are ok. When you side we a foreign head of state (President Fox) when a state (AZ) passes legislation, when you portray America’s faults in front of a foreign forum, looking for sympathy, when you use executive powers to assassinate Americans without due process (use of drones), we have an issue, most of his supporters are willing to overlook with divisive comments and unintelligent arguments.

I really don't know anymore. Every time there is a tragedy he seems to jump on the "don't blame Islam / Muslims" bandwagon instead of addressing the issue.
Yes, there are lots of people who are Islamaphobic because I would say a majority of terrorists are radical Islamists and people associate the Muslims with Islam and therefore terrorism.
President Obama initially called ISIS / ISIL a "JV player" or some words to that effect I'm too lazy to look up the exact wording.
But you have to wonder why he just doesn't come out and say Terrorists or radical Islam. Anyone with half a brain knows that not all Muslims are wanting to go all Jihad on the spur of the moment. I know some Muslims, worked with a few in the Navy and my cousin is married to one. Point is that not all are bad but we have to call an object what it is and not give it a harmless name or fail to point it out.

I think the president sees a broader picture, and in a way has to pick his battles. That being said, I think for whatever reason, he chooses to bring more attention to some non-critical issues, in terms of what is going on. I personally don't like, trust or would follow him, but I wouldn't want to be in his shows. On top of that, he is very careful when he addresses issues, such as terrorism.. not sure why, but I would address it like it is. There is plenty of other problems and issues that need attention, but we're all distracted and deal with, I guess, what we see is more imminent and threatening, like being vigilant and always on the alert.

On a separate note, I have noticed that if someone is right wing, conservative, (God forbid, ironically speaking) religious, gets insulted by the leftists/progressives (ie. democrats), just because they have a different opinion... why?? Why can't there be a normal discussion, exchange of ideas and thought, without insulting or ridiculing someone? To me it seems someone in that boat either doesn't have argumentation or nothing constructive to add (not to mention, taking it personal, or perhaps a troll?), thus wasting time and energy.

Sgt Kelli Mays First, as citizens it is important to respect the office of President and by proxy the person who holds the office. That said, our moral and ethical obligation as Americans, is to vote our conscious based on our own views. I have been bitterly disappointed with President Obama on foreign policy as well as the domestic front. Law enforcement is alienated, the DOJ seems to not be following the rule of law, and the American people have been mislead by statements which had little or no truth.

Specifically, to the issue you raise, Sgt Kelli Mays , the President has an agenda which will not be altered by facts, evidence, or events. To me, in his second term he has come across as a scolding parent in many addresses. He has a peace maker agenda with the most violent extremist group we have encountered in the 21st century. I hear him continue to say his strategy is working, and yet all evidence says ISIS is gaining ground and gaining strength. In essence, it seems the Honorable President Obama believes he knows best in spite of intelligence information which counters almost all claims made.

Our next election will be a clear statement from the people on the direction they wish to see our country move. Hopefully we ponder carefully the consequences of that decision, vote our conscious, and move our great Republic in a direction which honors our history, values, and Constitution.

President Obama stood in Paris France with in weeks of of over 150 French Citizens being killed by gun fire and bombs and said "Mass shootings only happen in America'. What planet is he on? President Obama said ISIL (President Obama calls ISIS ISIL the Islamic State of the Levant, which includes Jordan and Israel) is contained. By what standard? ISIS has linked up with BOKO Harem and is fighting in Libya. ISIS is recruiting world wide ,even in America! ISIS launched terrorist attacks in Paris and had connections to the San Bernardino shooters. Then I read that the Obama administration will not allow those processing visa applications to search social media. The female San Bernardino shooter Tashfeen Malik, had been posting support for violent jihad since 2012. Over 50 military analysts have come forward and said their work was doctored. they also say they have been pressured to alter their evaluations. Why? So the reports will comport with the White House world view? I really think Obama has some mental health issues.

Your question does have merit Kelli. We are currently in the process of repeating history of prior to World War 2. America was in the mind of neutrality, but in support of the French and British while the Nazi's were executing their plan of domination. Italy was in the same process ans the Nazi's, but more like a precursor to the eventuality. Fascism was a powerful way to run countries then, albeit with terrible consequences. Terrorism and Use of military force relate to seizing land for national or religious designs.
Most of you are saying 'How does this have anything to do with WW2?" Well, I'll tell you.

Current: Pure fascist and communist states have failed for various reasons, mostly because of economic reasons and the population rebelling against oppression. Russia is sliding into a form of Fascism with a hint of the old Soviet Communist influence. In addition, they run a capitalist economy controlled by the government. Sound similar to China?

Addition: Expansionist ideologies are becoming more popular because of resource requirements. It is VERY easy for these kinds of government to expand influence militarily because they keep the populace either uniformed or uneducated. China has 10s of thousand of troops in mainland famring areas to keep the people producing food. Remember, Mao killed roughly 80 million and Stalin killed 20 million of their OWN people.

* Sound similar to ISIS? Killing their own people for what reason exactly? But they are selling fuel and oil to provide economic freedom. Seems the same basic Tact.

Climate Change: President Obama claims Climate Change is more lethal than Terrorism. This is actually true if you look down the road 100, 500, 1000 years from now. he proposes several new taxes like carbon tax etc. That is basically taxing us for breathing...ok. Then make sure the entire world is getting taxed to start R&D to develop technology that id cleaner instead of relying on BP, Shell, Exxon, and failed solar companies. The path to this is to use ALL available methods of energy as the development curve for cleaner tech increases. Remember, it only took a decade or so to master nuclear power.
Terrorism: This is nothing new. The modern world changes how rebellions, power struggles, and control works. First we cannot compare these groups to the inception of the USA nor can we claim the Crusade that happened almost a thousand years ago has any real influence on modern decisions. ISIS did not arise out of struggle for freedom. They arose out the need to grasp power and to attack others for the need to lash out from some sort of psychological delusion that certain nations are enemies. Russia smacked them harder than we ever did, but these people want to show the world what they can do to the big dog on the hill. If another 9/11 happens, our military will be unleashed like the hammer it is onto the weak sword they have drawn. I was in Iraq during the invasion and those people loved us, until they were threatened by the mafioso types, former soldiers, former regime, and outside influences.
We must call a dog a dog. If it is terrorism then call it that, especially if it is CONSISTENTLY the same kind of people. Of course it is Islamic terrorism. Simple, true, and fact.
Syrians: We cannot allow those people into the country without a real investigation. When you look at pictures, you see mostly young men in their 20s. That is what we call the smoking gun. Where are the majority of the women and children? Why don't they fight for their own country? Why don't the other Arab nations take them? Because they know exactly what we know. PC must stop in order to truly combat this. Profiling must happen as well as in depth investigation. San Bernadino could have been thwarted had we simply LOOKED at Tashfeen's Facebook or whatever social page.

Finally, President Obama does not ignore what is going on. He has his own issues, like trying to maintain his popularity so he is doing what any president would do, go to his base. That is how most presidents do things. The way he acts I foresee him later being at the head of the UN.
If he IS ignoring us because of selfish reasons, history will tell. No matter what, he cannot escape the events of history while he was in office. He nor anyone writing history books cannot blame Pres. Bush for anything that happened on his watch. If that is the case then Pres Lincoln (A republican) could never receive credit for abolishing slavery. Carter suffered for and is considered one of the worst presidents ever.

This is long, I know. It is late here and my grammar sucks likely. Just remember we all here served regardless of political affiliation. When you encountered a bad leader you knew it, could smell it. Look at the facts and the events going on around you. Do not fall into the trap of Groupthink and just be a yes man and NOT question what is going on. Always question, because there will be a time that you regret trusting a person when they failed you in the most personal ways.

Lastly, if I see the enemy in the distance and my leader says don't worry about it. OF COURSE I WILL WORRY ABOUT IT! What happens when they get closer. Identify and react appropriately in War and Life. Recognize the situation, analyze, and decide a course of action.

He lives in a world as he would like it to be, not how it actually is. That is how he is able to say some of the things that to most seem from another planet/universe. He is the worst form of the ideologue. Even when all of the evidence and information is contrary to how he wants it to be, he cannot admit it or accept it. There is medication for the condition but clearly he is not taking it.

well anyone who has experience, a normal intelligence like our vets and those who are not vulnerable to media manipulation I'd think - not just another planed but something like the Harkonnen one - I'm hard wired not to see an entire race as an issue in fact I feel bad for many of my friends - if it were me I'd want to dig a deep hole and crawl into it out of embarrassment (ancient Japanese world class guilt baggage) :)

Hi - I would soon if possible put a page up with evidence and information which shows that his intentions are not only delusional but I think either sociopathic (functional sociopaths make fine politicians and CEOs but you don't want to be there) or is far worse because he has been accomplishing things which put the citizens of our country who are for the most part productive, kind and generous people (>316 Million) into a kind of chaos they never deserved. "I intend to put the US on par with the rest of the world." I do have personal experiences with sociopaths and when I'm curious about something I dig for solid information to back it up. The most important one for you to know about - and I'm sure you've all felt that arrogance rather than a common respect. He has been putting legal footmines everywhere he can take the fundamental right of owning arms away. I had read that the FBI and VA were working on it a few months ago.

He's planning on doing the same thing using Social Security and has been working on using an Executive Order to nix parts of the 2nd Amendment...Article 15 indeed.

I have a lot of friends who are baby-boomers and vets which means they are not too long from having to deal with the VA more often. That title demonstrates some joy of being cruel. None of you deserved to be treated to what the process is like. CA, someone slipped in the same trap in our Hospitals. I went in for a non psychiatric problem, the next thing I knew was that I was in a lock down Cuckoo's Nest (half career criminals half mentally ill of various kinds and functionality. "A danger to myself or others?" I've lived long enough that I wouldn't be here if I had that tendency. That title may be impossible to remove but there may be a chance I can sue because I got a copy of my history and the psychiatrist and clinicians lied the same way the media does. It was damaging and continues to haunt me. I have tons of things which demonstrate the same kind of bad intent.

I have some good ones concerning Benghazi and that little cruelty in Ferguson. More.

I'm hoping only to have some useful information here because no one and especially those who are veterans and soldiers deserve to have a label like that unjustly given to them (and might not have any form of adjudication) with btw probably goes off to some threat profile. At the least if you have a brake light out it gets to appear on the officer's console and they also have been given reason to be more nervous than before.
