The green machine runs just as smooth as if I was never there. I used to think that if I didn't work 36 hours in a day that the Army would somehow crash....lol SFC Mark Merino Sun, 25 Oct 2015 13:30:22 -0400 2015-10-25T13:30:22-04:00 Response by 1stSgt Private RallyPoint Member made Oct 25 at 2015 1:34 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/do-you-feel-that-you-left-any-lasting-legacy-for-future-soldiers?n=1064805&urlhash=1064805 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I think I did. 1stSgt Private RallyPoint Member Sun, 25 Oct 2015 13:34:45 -0400 2015-10-25T13:34:45-04:00 Response by MSgt Curtis Ellis made Oct 25 at 2015 2:34 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/do-you-feel-that-you-left-any-lasting-legacy-for-future-soldiers?n=1064909&urlhash=1064909 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I wouldn't say "legacy", as that wasn't my goal... That's a powerful word with a lot of weight to it. I'll remain humble with a safe 'no' to answer your questions directly. However, I do feel strongly that my efforts and overall actions as a Leader in the US Infantry has played a significant role in the strength and readiness in the units that I've been assigned to. I have received Soldiers who (metaphorically) walked with their head low with lacking pride for their profession. Within a month or so and with day to day interaction, I have witnessed moral increase, which in turn, plays a role in who they are and how they conduct themselves as Soldiers in the Army. I've even kept in touch with men who've PCS'd or ETS'd that periodically recall specific and memorable times of mentorship when around me, and that by itself is what I'd consider a measurement of success. So legacy? That's a little too vein for my taste. Lasting and positive effect on Soldiers; our future Leaders? You bet I do! Setting them up to lead and win... yes, that is what I would want to be remembered for. 1SG Private RallyPoint Member Sun, 25 Oct 2015 20:46:01 -0400 2015-10-25T20:46:01-04:00 Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Nov 22 at 2015 11:38 AM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/do-you-feel-that-you-left-any-lasting-legacy-for-future-soldiers?n=1125032&urlhash=1125032 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I have a specific niche I am trying to reach out to- Hispanic Muslims. There are so many people who said I couldnt join and if I joined then I would not get very far in it. I am focused more showing my hometown that there is more to life than minimum wage jobs and the path their parents took. Being an immigrant, the child of immigrants, etc is no issue. You are an American now and can do anything you want as long as you work hard enough because that's what America means.
