This funeral merits a low level staffer from the Embassy sitting in the designated seat given the circumstances. Anything else is more skewed politics. Maybe the staffer can give Raul a second urn for himself. OK, I'm letting my opinion show too much.

Why would he? He never met with Fidel. Also after President Obama visited Cuba Castro (Fidel) still railed against so called US imperialism and condemned his visit. They're not friends.

Yes I expect him to attend. His incompetence at expressing the nations grief are profound. His failure to attend the funeral of BG Harry Greene, killed in combat in Afghanistan and interred at Arlington National Cemetery, his absolute silence on the ongoing war against police officers in this country, and his unfortunate and misinformed involvement in the untimely death of Michael Brown, killed while physically attacking a police officer but glorified as a victim of his own criminal misdeeds, are just a few of his gaffs, pronounced failures. So not only do I expect him to attend but would not be surprised if he delivered a eulogy.

We have been staunch allies with Great Britain since about 1900. The communist Castro regime has been our enemy since 1959. This is the difference which POTUS does not seem to recognize in practice.
