I grew up here and the city has grown by leaps and bounds. I've seen it go from 2 lane highways to 8 lane highways. Growth is great, but with it comes increased crime. The population in my little town is exploding and most of the newcomers are illegals. Thanks to building new schools and other facilities to accommodate the population growth our property taxes have more than doubled in the last five years and the water bills have doubled. We now have gangs and other crime problems. I moved here because I like small towns. Unfortunately we are becoming a ghetto. I am too old to move again so I guess that I will have to learn to like it.Response by SGT Jerrold Pesz made Oct 1 at 2015 12:42 PM2015-10-01T12:42:54-04:002015-10-01T12:42:54-04:00LTC Stephen F.1008656

I endure where I am living by the grace of God SPC Margaret Higgins. As an Army Brat and having served on active duty for almost 30 years, coupled with being moved by my company several times now, I really don't know how many places I have lived in. I know that I have moved 29 times as an adult and that I spent 31 years of my life overseas (14 as a dependent and 17 on active duty).

I currently live in Augusta, GA and like it, but will probably move (one more time) to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where my son and his family live and the site of my favorite football team and alma mater, the University of Alabama Crimson Tide. :-)Response by COL Jean (John) F. In it, Adam is credited with writing upon the death of Eve, "Wherever she was, there was Eden". That's pretty much how I feel about my wife and family. Although I would jump at the chance to leave California, I am happy here despite all the insanity, high taxes, self-inflicted drought, et al, because this is where my family is. For all who do not live in California, take my warning: Stay Away! UHaul will tempt you to move here. I've been told that they'll pay you to drive one of their trucks to California (you can fill it with whatever you want) because so many are leaving California, their inventory is piling up in other states.
