The APFT is now phased out. Once FY 21 rolls around, goodbye old APFT (PU, SU, 2M) Now I’m speaking for DLI and DLI only, we now receive Trainees having taken the new Army Basic Training Physical Fitness Test which is designed to assist every individual in their efforts to pass the minimum scores of the ACFT. Upon arrival to AIT, they still take the old APFT. During their tenure here as a student, we Drill Sergeants train ALL Soldiers to meet and exceed those minimums with some of the best training regimens. This includes prior service, those changing their MOS, Officers, and Senior Enlisted as well. Metrics are showing the majority of failures come from the leg tuck. Run times are more or less the same. Solution? Damn good training, diet, stretches, and consistency reinforced by good ol’ discipline. Time to get fit or get out of our way.
