<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Not particularly, other than I don&#39;t open a fortune cookie until after I look to make sure there&#39;s actually something written on the fortune - I know that&#39;s a general item and not deployment related.<br /><br />Two items that I learned on deployments - which have carried on ever since, actually:<br />- Never say what someone else is doing looks/would be unpleasant or else you&#39;ll find yourself doing the same thing before too long.<br />- Never say things are q-u-i-e-t or s-l-o-w [That one *definitely* carried over when I became a firefighter, and the Chief was the worst one about saying it, too]<br /><br />Didn&#39;t have anything in particular that I carried with me as a &quot;good luck charm&quot;.

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I didn&#39;t carry any good luck charms, but when the Red Sox won the World Series in 2004 while I was deployed I thought for sure my number was up. I thought that it would be the ultimate cosmic joke on anyone from the Boston area that was deployed.
