How can that possibly be justification for disgracing the american flag?
And what about the people pointing out how they think this woman should be being treated by the cops based on their idea of police behavior or brutality? However, the police responded professionally and appropriately. She should have released the flag to the officer when asked. By not doing so, she failed to give them the chance to defend the flag.

I take solace in the belief (through direct personal observation) that people who are disrespectful of the symbols of society and other members of society (as indicated by their language) are in turn disrespected and their lives are lesser for it. Unfortunately, it will take a significant emotional/physical event before they understand the error of their ways. Even though I do not agree with these students and their ignorance on the meaning of that flag to some people saddens me, I will gladly fight for their right to peacefully protest in any way they wish. I would not be able to bear seeing that happen in person. But again, she should have obeyed the orders of Police. She lowered herself to their level, the exact thing she was countering. I do understand everyone's point of view that was involved. Quick fix for the cops would have been to confiscate the flag as evidence since they arrested her anyway.
