Do you believe that there is a place for politics in our ranks? What would you do about it? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/do-you-believe-that-there-is-a-place-for-politics-in-our-ranks-what-would-you-do-about-it

Ok, So I get Politics 100%, but in my honest opinion, I do not feel that they belong among us in our Ranks. I do not believe that they fit in keeping with the Seven Army Valus, The Warrior Ethos, any Military Creed (i.e, The Soldiers Creed, The NCO Creed..), Nor do they do anything for anyone except those of course who benefit from Politics. My entire time as an Sergeant, I feel that I am a victim of Politics, I am judged, and presumed a dirt bad NCO. I try not to let it get to me, I try to continue to focus on my Mission and My Soldiers, and give them 110%, but sometimes after work I feel as though I let every one and everything I hold close to me down. I feel like a target. I give 110% to everything I do. If my Soldiers are cold, I'm right there with them cold as well, and motivationg them to drive on. If my Soldiers are working, I'm working. I will in a heartbeat drop what I have going on for me to the side for them, and make sure their Green. I strive every day to be better, firstly for them, then myself. I can speak all day about the things I do. I always said to myself, don't care what others think, just do your job the best way you know how, and if you don't know how, find out how, and if that way is not the best way, if you can, improve it. How far does that work, if when it begins to effect your NCOERs, it stops you from attending Schools, Boards, and other Career Progressive avenues. I guess what I'm trying to say, is there anyone who has experienced this, found away to fix it, and if so, how? I mean, as Leaders, Non-Commissioned Officers, we are suppossed to be Fair and Impartial. Mon, 22 Sep 2014 18:46:31 -0400 Do you believe that there is a place for politics in our ranks? They WILL remember the leaders who stood beside them. Thank you for what you do now. Your soldiers will thank you for your legacy. I just joined this site today--but I will honestly say that u are exactly the kind of senior enlisted leader I want for my sailors. You will not always pmease the powers that be--but if u can be that one person that lifrs up a soldier and makes him or her better you have impacted the Army-this country-and the world in a way that cannot be measured. You keep it up. Politics decides where we're going to fight. It decides our health care, our pay, our retirement. It decides our training. Politics drives everything that we do so we need to have an interest in it even if, for no other reason, it's just to protect ourselves and our chosen occupation. We are very similar in taking care of soldiers and what I can tell you is do exactly what cot rouson is saying do keep being that leader setting the example, keep caring for your soldiers the way you are. Most of them will never tell you and very few will. Don't let that one person stay in your way it isn't right man and you said he calls on you a lot to do his duties so why I say to you is hone in on those I know from working with you you do extremely good work but his task that he's supposed to be doing that gets handed down make it your personal goal to do them way better than what he's doing them ensure that the person that's above him I.e. That Sfc or if top has taken over yet ensure he knows hey top I'm taking over for ssg (blank) today so he knows that the section is being squared away because of you it sounds selfish but he shouldn't reap the rewards for sitting at home I'm sry that just doesn't fly with me. You have to make your presence known don't sit back do the work for him and let him get praised for it that's trash. Sry but it's getting ridiculous out here and these are the kind that needs to be exposed. I don't know how said person could live with themselves being a leader knowing they did jack squat! Zilch! But at the end of the month give the NCO who has been doing his work a lame duck excuse that he didn't know the board was today!!??? I mean come on man! GIVE YOUR STRIPES BACK!! and get out the way let this young leader be great stop giving him a ceiling!! And that's my take on it!

Never change you! Your doing great battle!
