I do agree with it.

Raffi Torres sat out all of last season due to an ACL injury and now will sit for 41 more games after the NHL suspended the San Jose Sharks forward 41(!) games for his hit on Jakob Silfverberg Saturday night.

All I can say is if the league imposes this punishment then this punishment must be imposed on everyone for the same infraction.

1stSgt Private RallyPoint Member If it was a player who didn't have a track record for dirty hits (which in hockey is not an easy thing to earn), I would say it is excessive. This guy is an asshole. He tries to injure opposing players, then plays the "poor me, it was an accident card" I am glad that the league hammered him. I sincerely hope it comes with a "next time you are banned" warning as well.

I can't believe he's still allowed to play in the NHL.

"This marks the fifth and most significant suspension for Torres in his career. His previous longest ban had been a 21-game suspension for a high hit on Chicago's Marian Hossa in the first round of the playoffs in 2012 when he played with Phoenix."

Torres has a history of laying the lumber on players. Supplemental discipline and repeated warnings yet he decided hip checking Silfverberg's face was a good idea. Being a big Blackhawks fan I remember the hit on Hossa that landed him a 20+ game suspension. It was late, to the head, and its preseason. Have fun riding the pine Raffi.

Should have been a full season at least. He has shown that he is unable to alter his "style" of play. Hard hitting is one thing. Repeated discipline for illegal contact to the head is another. It won't be long before he is done for good.

It may seem a little counter intuitive to say this, but this is where having an enforcer on the team would be of use. After his first questionable hit, someone would have come over and put him in his place. It just seems to me that there is a correlation between the decline in the role of the enforcer and the increase in illegal hits to the head.
