Political correctness is a restriction on freedom of speech. It's really that simple and indefensible. No, I can shout "Fire!" in a crowded theater, but there is scant little that I should be forbidden to say. Of course, I must be prepared to accept responsibility for whatever I say, but that is the price of all freedoms, isn't it? If you're not ready to accept responsibility, you're not ready to exercise individual liberty.

I think the term politically correct is offensive to politicians. How about calling it 'people who never respond with their true feelings, beliefs or emotions to placate other people that are offended by the truth.' We can shorten the acronym to 'BS'.

There is no place in America for political correctness. It is what has turned this nation from a place where differences can be openly discussed to a nation where honest discourse has been replaced by hate mongering. I am not saying that every viewpoint is right, or even valid, but I would rather the ignorant racist bastards be out in the open rather than hiding in secrecy. Additionally this political correctness keeps people divided, divided people are easier to control. I don't think that the American People were born onto this earth to be controlled. We were born to live free in a land that everyone on RP took an oath to defend so that we could maintain that freedom.

Now I recognize that my first statement was a bit rude, and for that I apologize... not because I am worried about being PC, but because that seemed to be the best way to make a point... my intent was not to offend but to demonstrate that yes, we really do still have freedom of speech.

No one is going to throw you in prison for being offensive, and if speaking the way you want to speak causes difficulty at your place of work... maybe you should consider working somewhere else. If you choose to continue working somewhere where speaking your mind would cause you difficulties, at least recognize that it was your choice. The same goes for your circle of friends, your church or whatever other group is making you feel oppressed.

Without a doubt. A person should know the "arena" they are in when talking or listening. Whst I mean is if you're talking at a conference or such know your surroundings. If in a chat room or something know whst could come out if it.
You can also stay in your lane and not have to worry about being PC. Moreover yes people take it way to far.

Hell Yes! Don't say this....Don't say that.....YOU can't say that word but they can because your Grandfather's best friend's cousin's barber offended that group of overly sensitive ...yadda yadda yadda....BUT that whole group CAN say that same word......

Give me a Break! If someone calls you a name, First make sure that you are not what they said, and if you do not consider yourself to be that then LET IT GO....If someone calls you a moron and you are a moron, then understand that recognition of a problem is the first step to a cure...if you are not a moron, then stay away from the guy that called you one.

Also understand that YOUR RIGHT to be whatever stops where my right not to have to put up with you starts. Most folks that claim to be discriminated against in today's world, IF they did not shove their difference in people's faces, NO ONE WOULD NOTICE. Honestly, my life is so full and I have so little free time, that I could care less and do not want to burn brain cells worrying about what restroom a transgender uses, UNTIL the make it the LAW that a pre-op transgender who still has a penis MUST be allowed to shower in the women's shower room at the gym, where little girls shower....and little girls get an eye full on One Eyed Trouser Trout, even though it is hated by it's owner, it is there....

Political Correctness is stupidity and liberal bigotry run amok. Also, understand that if you are that Offense Sensitive, that I, most of the people I know, and indeed most of the world are laughing at you. I will not laugh behind your back, I will do it straight to your face.

As you're undoubtedly aware, Chaplains in the U.S. military are being forced to perform gay marriages, even if it goes against their personal religious beliefs. The few chaplains that have refused to follow orders know that it means the end of their careers.

Speech should be protected, regardless of how offensive. The best disinfectant is sunlight, if the speech is bad, than it'll be recognized as such and fade away.

Political correctness is par for the course. You have to look at the driving force behind it. Obama and Hillery both promised everything to anybody that would listen. No matter what the minority cause was that catered to them, they told them as long as you vote for me I'll support you.

Hillery finally got trapped in West Virginia with the coal miners and she paid dearly.

For the majority of us most of these issues of PC would be a non-issue except that the government is forcing these issues on us. At some point, the majority is going to stand up and say enough! I think that is the appeal of Trump for some.

Political correctness should not (and will not) be a law, as it impedes on free speech. However as we have the right to freedom of speech, we also have the responsibility to be respectful to one another. This applies to everyone.

I'd say yes and yes. It seems words are the new nukes of our time. No one throws punches anymore when words suffice. People cannot be caught using words like "fag" "retard" or god forbid "cunt". To do so causes mayhem and riots in the streets. People have lost jobs over these and many other words. And just recently I've had to say goodbye to my Facebook account beacuse "in "blah blah" profession, your personal views are subject to scrutiny..." , well that may be so but if my privacy is set so others cannot see then what's to worry? Can I not have the best of both worlds. Speaking my mind and doing a job that I love? Apparently not. Every one everywhere is watching. And everyone is a reflection....

All in all I call bull. Say what you mean and own what you say. Re-Kindle the days of Dennis Leary, Lewis Black and others like them. Be an" asshole" if you so choose but own it!
