Some employers are particular about the people they hire in an effort to ensure that the image of their company will not be affected by the image of their employees...Response by CW2 Joseph Evans made Jun 12 at 2015 2:15 PM2015-06-12T14:15:42-04:002015-06-12T14:15:42-04:00SN Daniel Reinhardt744130<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>It could be part of the back ground investigation, but they don't disclose what the look at. I'd say yes. Don't assume that just cause you marked it private no one else will ever see it. Rather assume someone will see it, regardless of its privacy settings. And if you think such a post could place you in a negative lime-light. Don't Post It. Get a paper-back diary for those posts, and even then write in cursive. I heard somewhere it's no longer being taught in schools... eventually no one will be able to read it.Response by SSgt Brycen Shumway made Jun 13 at 2015 6:51 AM2015-06-13T06:51:02-04:002015-06-13T06:51:02-04:00LCpl Mark Lefler746783<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>absolutely, some company's even made showing your facebook account mandatory to be hired.Response by LCpl Mark Lefler made Jun 14 at 2015 1:27 AM2015-06-14T01:27:53-04:002015-06-14T01:27:53-04:00SrA Elizabeth Fontenot746792<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I believe that they do.Response by SrA Elizabeth Fontenot made Jun 14 at 2015 1:58 AM2015-06-14T01:58:09-04:002015-06-14T01:58:09-04:00CW3 Susan Burkholder753325<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Sadly they do pay attention. Sadly, most people are not aware that it is not legal for an employer to make hiring and firing decisions based on social media posts. Social media posts have no bearing on job performance. Or that is, it does not address actual skills in performing the job at hand. When you get your annual review - social media posts are not addressed are they? Therefore they should have no bearing on hiring or firing. But, hardly anyone has the money, connections or time to fight any wrongful terminations or discrimination in hiring practices so it continues to exist.Response by CW3 Susan Burkholder made Jun 17 at 2015 2:53 PM2015-06-17T14:53:45-04:002015-06-17T14:53:45-04:00SGT Mark Rhodes1091929<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>In today's social media age companies do pay attention to it more after being hired than before because you can hide your profile from non friends viewing your profile but after you are hired like most of us we like the company FB then you are openings yourself up for companies media policy. I can admit that as a hiring manager I use all tools possible to get the best candidates.
