Always keep a copy in a safe place of every order/award that you receive- you would be amazed how personnel misplaces them even after years. 2. After receiving an award- wait 30-60 days, and then take a copy( not the original) to personnel and ask to see your ERB, or if you can access it online- check to see the award is on it- if not, then make the trip to personnel. Go to AKO. Look at your ERB. Now look at your dress uniform. Now look at your personal records like your approved recommendations for awards, COAs, orders for over seas assignments, etc. Make it up to your ERB and if your ERB is deficient see your supervisor. You will need to see your PAC clerk for a personal record review (PRR). You can go ahead and dress up your dress uniform if what you need to do is pending. Far as being responsible for your own records, get a file keeper and make labels for the sections such as orders, award recs, COAs, college transcripts, etc. This is what I teach my new Soldiers. You are getting world class mentorship and record keeping lessons right here. Now, go fourth and conquer and pass on the knowledge I gave you. It used to say in assignments under location where you were to deployed to. I can tell which ones were my deployments based on the length and which ones were stateside.

I see nothing where you can put your deployment patch. I'm authorized to wear the one from the BDE I was in while deployed OR I can wear the 101st patch as a deployment patch because we were attached to them in 05-06. There's orders for it I have somewhere. I just wear the brigade patch that my BN fell under at the time.

They do ceremonies for deployment patches now? I don't recall doing that. I think when I went it was 30 days after you were there you could wear it. We just put it on.

I would go ask your S1 again what they mean or have your NCO go ask. I'm extremely confused as to where this is supposed to be put on an ERB and I have never done it.

Edit - under assignments in duty title for my deployments it says "FWD IZ" so I feel like that's the only place it's annotated. But the format may have changed in the few years I have been out.

Stalk your iPERMS. There should be a download button where you can get a digital copy of every record there. Download and save it as the date you saved it. Do that every 30-90 days or so. That way if something "disappears" you can generate a copy to bring back to your S1. My unit was awarded a VUA over 2 years after the date of action. It never got entered into my iPerms but a friend of mine doing the same method sent a copy so I could get the award at a new unit. The Section I has annotations for Combat, Operational, Restricted assignments on Section I. It doesn't appear there is a block for which SSI-FWTS you have. The section one entries should be automatic and top fed from S1 be flight manifests.
