You can't really use the DD214 as a document to validate an award. You have to have the original award still. The DD214 is really just a statement of your service. I would bring any copies of anything you have to make sure you get it added. People usually have their "I Love Me" book with all of their awards. Your ERB can be out of date and if you bring your original documents for your awards you will have them added to your DD214.Response by CPT Private RallyPoint Member made Feb 8 at 2021 4:31 PM2021-02-08T16:31:23-05:002021-02-08T16:31:23-05:00CSM Charles Hayden6730515<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div><a class="dark-link bold-link" role="profile-hover" data-qtip-container="body" data-id="1720858" data-source-page-controller="question_response_contents" href="/profiles/1720858-25n-nodal-network-systems-operators-maintainer">SPC Private RallyPoint Member</a> Trust, but validate! You may want those awards on your 214 in case you ever rejoin or go into the NG or USAR. Of course, you may be thinking that you have no intention of ever rejoining, but neither did the tens of thousands of prior service who rejoined either.Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Feb 8 at 2021 7:59 PM2021-02-08T19:59:04-05:002021-02-08T19:59:04-05:00SGM Steve Wettstein6732824<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Yes get an updated ERB. The information that is on that will be transferred to your DD 214. If you are missing awards on your ERB, they will also be missing on your DD 214. They also look at your deployment time, and schools.Response by SGM Steve Wettstein made Feb 9 at 2021 1:11 PM2021-02-09T13:11:02-05:002021-02-09T13:11:02-05:00CW3 Kevin Storm6732991<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>The smart money is keep the ERB up to date. You do not want your DD214 jacked up for anything.
