Do I have to attend Annual Training if it is within a couple weeks of my ETS?

I ETS July 29, 2021. My questions is, Do I have to attend Annual Training which is July 9-23, 2021?

I know Soldiers that have, but it looks like the AT is going to cross into your ETS. Maybe if it was an at home AT they would make you but if it's an in the field or in another State AT I would think they'd give you a pass all things considered. Granted not all CoC's have the same mind set.

I am just wondering because I am turning in all my gear starting in May. In all honest I am trying to clear CIF by June. Also. We are supposed to go to Hawaii, so hopefully they give me a pass.

It's Annual Training.
Most of CAARNG does not delegate relief from AT authority below BN level.
You need to talk directly to your CO now, and he needs to talk to your BC about the efficacy of bringing a Soldier to AT who will ETS 6 days after return.
And the underlying problems of incurring an LOD injury that close to ETS.

Yes, you have to attend unless otherwise told not to. In your case, you need to have a sit down with your Platoon and Company Command teams and get this hashed out. But come to the table with alternate COAs for you not going to AT. For example, you could spend 2 weeks Home Station AT to get all of your ETSing affairs lined up and ready. That's just one option. I recommend you provide them 3 options. You're gonna have to sell this hard. If you can't sell it, then get your bags ready for AT.

Unless your command says otherwise yes. You are still in the Unit and conducting the plan of the day until you’re not in the unit anymore.

Yes. People are counting on you to do your part. The thing is, it's not even about you. When we train, we often think of how that training built our own skills or wasted our time. We often are inwardly focused when it comes to training. But, that is the opposite of what training is meant to be. When I go to training, and perform at the best of my abilities, other people that have to interact with my actions and are on the receiving end of what I say, do, and expect; those soldiers in turn train in their MOS in response to my contributions or shade. Other people are counting on me to do my job well so that they can do their job well, so that others can do their job well. Instead of it being an inward focus, it's more like being part of a spider web. When you push or pull on a strand of the web, the whole web adjusts to what is pushed or pulled. Sure, you can likely get your chain of command to let you out of it, but other soldiers will be affected by your absence. To be clear, I retired on the last day of annual training.

Ask your CO if you can do your AT at home. If no one is staying back at your armory, ask if you can do it at another armory.
