Did your parents spank you when you a child?

I used to get a spanking at least once a week for a variety of reasons. Anything from lying to stealing, or even telling a dirty joke would result in a bottom warming! One of the worse parts of it was when I had to get the belt! Did your parents spank, and did it help shape you into a better person? I wonder what kind of person I would be without this character development?

Yes--it wouldn't hurt if it was more common today.Spankings i received were well deserved.

I spanked my son once in his life, when I thought he had hid from us and we thought he had been abducted. Afterward, I explained why and told him how much I loved him. His sister, never and she was a brat. One thing about not spanking, is that the child is more intimidated when they don't know what it is like. As with the other two posters, my parents had no such reservations, got my butt beat a lot, justifiably so. No regrets and absolutely no hard feelings years later.

Yes but not very often. The main thing that would get a whipping from my parents was lying. It didn't take me long to learn that my parents already knew the answer or they wouldn't have known to ask the question and the penalty was a lot less if you told the truth.

I got tore up as a kid. Hand and belt. Variety of reasons, always deserved.

That said, I have only spanked my daughter a handful of times. 2 of those times were for running into the road/parking lot (dangerous). I've tapped her mouth before for mouthing off, but that's about it.
