I felt there was far more substance to the Democratic debate, as opposed to the Republican debate. This may be due to the fact there so many candidates on the Republican side, and with only five candidates on the stage the Democrats were able to expound a little further. I also liked the tone a lot better, I felt that it was far more civil, there was an appreciation for collaboration, and compromise. I like that they talked about the VA scandal in a direct fashion, though I would like to have seen them spend a little more time on veterans issues overall.

Pretty disappointing showing by Webb and Chaffee. I expected Chaffee to not make a good showing, but Webb was a surprise.
Bernie Sanders clearly won the debate... even if he was wrong a lot. He definitely believes what he is saying - in stark contrast to someone else on the dais.

It looked like a CNN scripted play to highlight Hillary Clinton and the others where the supporting cast. If you are in the democratic corner of course you liked it. From my conservative perspective it was ok but clearly favored one candidate. Sanders and O'mally did have there moments. The other two looked lost and where mostly overlooked my the moderater.

Most of it - I particularly liked the part when Hillary was criticized about her emails and when Anderson asked if she wanted to respond, she said "No!" I don't understand why there were more questions on email and pot than on immigration, national security, health care, economy and other much more important issues.

I was appalled by SEN Chaffee's comments -he admitted he had no idea what he was voting for in the Senate re: repealing Glass-Steagall. Says it was his first vote and his dad had just died. At least he's honest?

There's a few other comments by the candidates that shocked me - especially how hawkish Clinton and Sanders sound when it comes to foreign policy and wars. Jim Webb, who I hoped would have a good showing, had a poor showing imo - and his response about what enemy are you most proud of making...was heartfelt but I'm sure it was awkward for anyone who's not a vet or has never been to combat.

It was apparent though that the Democrats agreed prior to the debate to keep the mudslinging to a minimum - which will definitely set this debate apart from the two GOP debates. Wasn't it Reagan who said a Republican should not speak ill of another Republican?

I did. My favorite part was when real life war hero and combat veteran Jim Webb shrugged his shoulders in exasperation while Maloney talked about firearms and ammunition when he clearly doesn't understand them.

I was surprised that the moderator asked tough questions of all of the candidates. Their responses reminded me of the reasons I am a conservative.

I much preferred the Democratic Debate to the GOP Debate. There was significantly more civilized discussion and "debate" with the participants with minimal mud slinging and middle school antics. I think that as long as Trump is in the middle of the GOP debates, we're going to get more "reality TV" events from them, rather than debates.

That being said, I still support Sanders as the absolute best choice for President in the next election. I think that Hillary has burned up her political capital (or had it burned up for her). I'm glad that Sanders worked to focus the debate on substantive issues and policy and worked to steer the conversation away from "headline" catch-phrase topics (ie Benghazi! and Email!).

Before the debate, I couldn't have named any of the other three candidates - O'Malley, Webb and Chafee. I still don't think they will be in for long. The Dem's are going to send Sanders or Hillary. Sanders will probably win against any current GOP candidate. If the Dem's send Hillary, it'll be close enough that it's hard to say who comes out on top (unless the GOP sends Trump who should lose in a landslide against any real candidate).

I felt bad for Chafee who reminds me of a turtle and who's only claim to fame was that he "hasn't had any scandals." Also, he pretty much sunk any chance he had when he said that he didn't read the bill for his first vote because "it was my first day and my dad died."

Webb came off as a bit of a whiner with the "I've been trying to talk here," mantra. Also, his "I was wounded in Vietnam," and "I killed my enemy," phrases just sit bad with me. Congrats on being a wounded Vet and all, but you're going to have to point to something other than those things to convince me. I know a lot of wounded vets, and a bunch are great people, but they wouldn't be good Presidents.
