The Veterans Affairs Department is wanting its own version of BRAC. Do you think this is wise for a beleaguered system?

The department has hundreds of under-used buildings, but getting congressional support to close them could be tricky.

First I have heard of it, but I am not suprised that the VA is looking at downsizing.

I agree with what Secretary McDonald said in regards to being good stewards of taxpayers' resources with that type of asset portfolio and that veterans deserve better. However, I would like to know how many of these facilities are the only one in their area and what I mean you have a facility in Butte, Montana and I am saying it is under utilized but it is the only one in the state. Does it make sense to close that one? I do not think so and I will him and his agency good luck in convincing Congress.

If they have property not being used which is an expense, and by cutting said expenses, it frees up money to be spent on patient care, I'm 100% for it. No need or sense in maintaining property which is excess.

Don't come back and tell us you need additional (new) facilities next year.
