I can't remember my exact age when I first got one, but the music was all from the "Faces" album of EARTH WIND AND FIRE, and I believe the song was "September" (My birth month!)!!!

It was clunky, with big buttons and bright colors, and in the 1980s, every kid desperately wanted one. Before there was an iPod, there was the Sony Walkman, and Tuesday marks the 35th anniversary since it first went on sale on July 1, 1979. Thanks to a frustrated Japanese executive, kids suddenly had the freedom to listen to their favorite music tapes anywhere instead of lugging around a boombox.

I don't remember my first one or the first songs I played. However, I do remember all the times I'd go to school with a CD-RW of all the underground tracks I was working on. That was my favourite technique for checking my mixdowns.

Probably the Beatles. I had boom boxes and even a vest that my parents got me that had built in speakers and a knock-off Walkman built into it before I ever got my first Walkman.

I won one for finishing first in my age group at a 10K in Newport Beach But I dropped it when running & it didn't work after that.. Julio Iglesias "To All The Girls I Used To Know"....& lots of my man Willy Nelson..
