From where I was during the Northridge, the motion was rolling. The 1999 quake was a violent jolt followed by rolling since the quake echoed off the eastern Sierra Nevada range. <br /><br />I prefer unpredictable TX weather to SoCal quakes. At least I get a short warning before the weather gets bad. Our buildings and road and rail networks are very robust.
