There are seven pharmacy's filling over 100,000 prescriptions a day. Veterans can go online and check the status of their prescriptions and track them.
No more waiting in long lines to get your meds.
If you are a Vet and have refills, you can call it in and get your meds mailed to you or have your doctor have them mailed to you.

This is how I do mine all of the time. Is much easier and convenient for me and I usually have then between 3-5 working days. I think it is a worthwhile program! The site I use is "My Health eVet":

Not only can you reorder your prescriptions, this site has many options for managing your health care and ties directly to the VA system, to include secure messaging for direct contact with your health care team. I recommend all veterans give it a try if you haven't already. :)

The mail order system has always seemed like a good OPTION to me, especially since some of the "gonna be on that med the rest of my life" medications can be obtained in 90 day supplies (4 times a year instead of every month). Another positive solution that the mail order system provides is that a trip to the pharmacy is very difficult for veterans that suffer from PTSD. That being said is there are always Pros & Cons to every system. Homeless veterans generally do not have an address to deliver their meds to...also, if a vet needs to get a med quickly, there is no quick fix (they have to wait for the mail).

I concur with Sgt Richard Buckner and MSgt Curtis Ellis. My medicines are mailed to me from the VA. The only exceptions are medicines from teh VA MC emergency room and any medicine changes which are the result of my cardiology, dermatology, gastroenterology, neurology, orthopedic, or ophthalmology appointments.

Sgt Kelli Mays, I have been receiving my meds via mail for years. I signed up with My Healthy Vet, and I order on line, and before I receive them, I get an email with a tracking number I can check to find out where they are. The only catch is, after a week of receiving them, you need to reorder so you get the refills before you run out. The doctors prescribing them, plan for you to have an appointment with them before you run out, and they give you more prescriptions. If you are 60% or more disabled the prescriptions are at no cost.

order mine thru myhealthvet online, must call in for hydrocodone every month what a pain in the Butt... also check appointments on line.

You can also have then refilled by phone through an automated touch-tone system. Its pretty quick and usuially takes about a minute at most. Also people should be aware that due to charging regulations certain medications are now being limited to a 30 day supply per refill

The Phoenix VA system no longer permits 'walk-ins' at the Pharmacy. All meds are now mailed as a matter of daily policy. The only exceptions are those 'inpatients' during convalescence at the hospital or emergencies. Using the "Secure Messaging" aspect of MyHealthEVet online, I can contact my primary care physician at any time for refills.
