Did our U.S. Sailors that were taken briefly by the Iranians end up giving out more than the "standard" name, rank and serial number ?

They were not POW's, so the code of conduct isn't really relevant... We aren't at war with Syria.

Do I agree with how it went down and how they will use this as propaganda (No). This is a win and a huge loss for us. Did they give out more then they should have - I wasn't in the situation and hopefully the debrief covers the why... however the videos and pictures make me cringe.

There is some disagreement regarding what constitutes International waters and what waters are Iranian. That said, if the sailors made a navigational mistake and entered what everyone agrees are Iranian waters then their detainment by Iran was not unreasonable. The sailor may have been in touch with his chain of command and they may have authorized him to make such a statement given the circumstances.

First I wasn't there, but the question that lingers was, you couldn't try to out run them by running back into international waters? Looking at the Iranian boats I see no reason why you gave in.

How in the world could we answer this question? What it did do was make our Sailors good little Dhimmis while the golfer in chief pays the jizya to the mullahcracy of Iran. And what Sailor works in their boats with their PASSPORTS??? I CALL BS ON THIS OP.

Its hard to say because we don't know the entire story. The Persian Gulf is a tricky area and Iran is no better than China when it comes to taking what is theirs and what is considered as International waters.
From my understanding of the situation one of the boats broke down and was drifting due to the tides and the Iranian boats just jumped on the opportunity.
I wasn't there so my opinions are just that, opinions.
I am not surprised that Iran detained and questioned our sailors because they are just a bunch of decently armed thugs.
I would be willing to bet though that there wasn't much choice made in apologizing on video, it was probably that or be taken ashore and tossed in Iranian jail.
The whole situation sucks.

No,Their actions prevented a international incident.They on the other hand should have followed the prescribed coarse.This would have rested solely on the Leader,he did well after the fact,after the arrest.
