And how it is supposed to help with career progression, I just want to get the thoughts of former recruiters. And maybe get some info on how difficult an adjustment it was to get back into the swing of things once off recruiting duty. Being away from the line for three years there has to be some sort of transition back to your MOS as skills are most certainly perishable. I honestly think this has been the most challenging duty of my career thus far. Thoughts? DA Selected Recruiter good for career? 2014-01-25T00:55:44-05:00 SSG Private RallyPoint Member 43850

Let me just say before the discussion starts, I understand how the board system is structured. I am sure that you have a lot of
questions about recruiting duty, and the comments would go about 50/50%.
Recruiting is different for everybody. What I mean by that? It will be up to
you entirely, to see how successful will you be, as like anything else you do.
Now, achieving this might be a little tricky as you can be stood up by a 17
year old "child" that does not know he wants to join the Army yet.
And, some may say that your evaluation/ career depends on you to put citizens
in the Army. If this "child" goes through the entire process and then decides not to ship, you are
responsible for this. I don't say this to scare you, but to show you that you
have to work very hard to establish a rhythm. You would probably be assign to
the "Team Concept" recruiting where you entire station is involved in
the recruiting process rather than just you. You will also be trained on
communication techniques to improve not only your recruiting skill, but it will
make you a better professional over all. The skill and your different view of
the Army that you learn can be brought back to the line to only make you better
with your Soldiers and leaders. You are correct, things will be different when
you come back, but as I said before is entirely up to you get with it and catch
up when you return. Recruiting is a great opportunity that is not offered to
everyone. Go for it! The picture below is of a mall event during recruiting.

Response by 1SG(P) Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 25 at 2014 2:11 AM 2014-01-25T02:11:38-05:00 2014-01-25T02:11:38-05:00 2014-01-25T00:55:44-05:00
