Currently on assignment to DS School the station of my trail time will be FLW, MO any ideas on how I can get it changed to Ft. Benning ? ?

At drill Sgt school they may ask you if you want to swap places with someone else. What's your mos?

Good call branch, but while I was there they DS branch actually came and asked who wanted to switch and we have several swaps done while in school but no turtles! Turtle had to return to station.

Just curious, are you an Infantryman SFC Private RallyPoint Member, miss Victory Drive? In all seriousness, Fort Benning is a great place to be! You can call DS branch ahead of time or use the on point advice of SSG Private RallyPoint Member & SFC Private RallyPoint Member!

Many candidates switched at school, but everything when I went had to be the same.
I.e.- same MOS, rank, demographic, married/single status. DS Branch has the final say so, but keep that in mind as you make your wishes known. Best of luck, you will see many of those you train later on in your career. What impression will you make? Be fair, be professional, be humble, be human, and have fun!! Best three years of my career! I wouldn't have traded it for any other assignment!!

SFC Private RallyPoint Member I went down the same path back in 2005. In my situation, I talked to the commandant and he got squared away from FT. Leonoardwood. My DS school was at FLW at the Manscen NCO academy. I tell ya, that's one cold place in the winter! I spent two years doing trail time at C/2-47 IN
at Sand Hill Jan 06-JAn 08. Talk to the commandant at your school or call the DA Drill Sergeant branch at HRC. Good Luck!

During school, you will get a briefing from drill sergeant branch,hrc. They will give you the opportunity to switch with someone in class. It is not a guarantee... But you will have the opportunity to ask. i hope this helps. Also you can go ahead and call drill sergeant branch and ask.

I am a 12N....it may be a long shot but hopefully me being double tabbed (RNGR most importantly) it might influence my assignment to change to Benning, DS branch said they could give me Sill instead or I could wait to try and do the whole swap thing once at school they also stated I could talk to the Commandant sometime during the course....Thanks for all responses I appreciate your time

Way back in my day it was well known that there was only two ways to avoid FLW or to get out of there - death or discharge.

I just left the trail and was assigned to the 35th EN BN at FLW. If you want to switch assignments you need to find someone going to Ft Benning that want's to switch. Good luck on that. It doesn't have to be the same MOS as I'm a 12H that was training 12B and 12C. If you're already at DS school they should have a HRC brief where they go over switching assignments.
