Currently E-6 with orders to Korea in 2018. What happens if I get selected to E-7? Do I still go to Korea?

You can still be promoted and sent to Korea or anywhere else the Army decides they need You. The needs of the Army come first which is also true in any branch of the Armed Forces.

Brother, you better hope your branch manager has mercy on you and sends you elsewhere. It's getting pretty dicey over here in Korea.

I was a SGT(P) when I got orders for Korea. I got promoted to SSG during my second week in Korea. Heck, the Company 1SG was so intent on promoting me on time that I never really completed inprocessing (D CO, 3-2 GSAB has a "Green Platoon" where you are assigned until you complete inprocessing; I was pulled out early in order to be promoted)
