Are you a re-enactor? Groups of people re-enact the Revolutionary War, Civil War, World Wars 1 & 2, Korean War and the Vietnam War. Are you a re-enactor? Could you be a Vietnam War re-enactor? Is there anyone re-enacting the Gulf War? Do you think there will ever be War on Terror re-enactors?

Why would anyone want to be? This was a war that thousands didn't come home from even after some of them alive came home. What would re-enacting it serve to accomplish?

As for re-enacting the war on terror that will happen in just over a year when we have a presidential election.

I was offered the opportunity to be a WWII reenactor with the 10th SS Panzer Division out of New Jersey. I declined because with working full time and a 3/4 college student, I have no time. I think after I graduate, I might consider Civil War reenactment, especially since I live so close to Gettysburg and am a few hour drive from a lot of battlefield down south.

CH (MAJ) William Beaver. Are you kidding me? A bunch of boy scouts camping in the woods of Louisa, VA?

They are missing the oppressive heat, humidity, smell of the jungle rot, burning diesel/feces, sight and sound of artillery, helicopters, aircraft, full automatic weapons, grenades, rockets, mortars, booby traps, patients screaming, burns, amputations, etc. Why on God's green earth would anyone want to pretend to be reenacting/reexperiencing that hell on earth??? I have done Civil War re-enacting, Gettysburg mainly. I have to say it is just too soon for the more recent wars. Re-enacting is supposed to help people visualize what it was. We still have first hand accounts of Vietnam, just go to your local VFW.

As to GWOT re-acting... I give you Airsoft, COD, Battlefield, Medal of Honor(the game, not the award)

I used to a member of a Revolutionary War artillery unit. We had a 6-lb bronze field gun we would fire. The purpose was to demonstrate what being in the military was like and how military units from that period maneuvered during that period. We reenacted battles with other units for the public. We would also participate in living history events for school children to attend.
