Could this be a game changer in decisions to keep military members or discharging them?

You're probably correct...it just goes into your record, "for the rest of your life." :-(

Why do I feel as if this is a test platform for the "gun control" agenda and the military is the test platform?

I don't understand this article. I am a highly aggressive male, but I don't need training. I am aggressive partly due to the fact I played Football for 15 years. But, I know the law and I adhere to it.

You can't discharge a member for an act they didn't commit
More important, those people willing to die for a cause are exactly who a military wants to recruit into a war.
Bureaucratically speaking, that's an issue for the VA, not the active duty services. Especially during a time of war

Sgt Spencer Sikder
SFC Jason Boyd, while I agree with your perspective, I'm not so confident that this "tool" won't find it's way to some sort of usefulness.

I think you're overestimating the value of the use of tools the military has at its disposal. It had plenty of very effective tools in hand for the drawdown
And underestimating the power of lawyers.
Also, forgetting the most important fact. People rarely commit suicide on active duty. The VA has no financial incentive to prevent people from dying. Financially, it's beneficial for people to kill themselves. It's much cheaper than a lifetime of care and disability benefits payments
