I don't even remember who invited me, but I did not become active for 9 months after setting up my account. I assumed it was another Facebook for military, but it is definitely not that at all. THe question is how to make that exposure, SSG Ricardo Marcial ? 1stSgt Private RallyPoint Member Thu, 22 Oct 2015 17:43:11 -0400 2015-10-22T17:43:11-04:00 Response by SGT Private RallyPoint Member made Oct 22 at 2015 5:57 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/could-rallypoint-be-better-for-veteran-mentors-mentoring-than-linkedin?n=1059103&urlhash=1059103

I'd argue that it is. Most of the veterans I meet walking around have no idea Rallypoint exists. For that reason, I'm trying to get some key personnel at my local VA and Vet resources on campus spun up on it to create some exposure. Not sure those that manage this site are branding this effectively. I don't ever recall seeing RP branded at any Hiring Event or Veteran resource fair. there are so many ways to get the name out into the public. Teaming up with other organizations, sponsoring an event say a 5K or something. LI has plenty of veteran groups to cover all the bases, some of them competing against each other for the same veterans. Personally I prefer to come here and post something about jobs, resources, and such because that's my intended audience. LI has its benefits, but it's not tailored to what we have here. I am under the opinion that LinkedIn is more for connecting and mentoring. It is a wonderful group that has assisted many veterans and active duty personnel. There are many talented individuals that belong to this group that take the time to mentor and provide guidance. I do not think that RallyPoint could be better than the Veteran Mentor Network, but it could certainly be another great resource. My recommendation is to post a discussion and let everyone know that the Veteran Mentor Network group exists on LinkedIn, and that the Mentorship group exists on RallyPoint. Ask that folks interested in mentoring on RallyPoint, join the group, and keep tabs on discussions that their area of expertise covers. Mentee's or those folks that could use some assistance, would be asked to start a discussion with their help request.
