Question 1. Yes, a Private can become President. James Buchanan had a lengthy government service career before being elected as the 15th President, his highest rank attained during his military service was Private.

It’s possible, but in the reality of today’s climate, unlikely.

*there are very few actual Constitutional qualifications. 35 yrs old. Natural born citizen. 14 years a resident in the US. (And any term limits per XXII amendment).
