A Connecticut teenager who was ordered by a state court to undergo chemotherapy against her wishes is in remission after several months of treatment, the state's Department of Children and Families said on Sunday.

This is a very interesting ethical question, SGT Jim Z.. It worked out here, and Cassandra C. lives on. That makes me want to applaud the "system" (the state, the state agencies, the courts) for forcing her to go with the treatment, because she would otherwise die in two years according to doctors. On the other hand, doesn't she have the freedom to choose whether or not she wants medical treatment? I guess the fact that she was a minor allowed the state to impose its will. I'm glad the state did that, and I'll bet Casandra C. and her mother are glad now as well.
