July 2018 my husband returned from a 10mo Germany rotation. That same month my husband and I re-enlisted. My husband, being a 31B, chose PSD school. My retention NCO informed me to not to re-enlist for a duty station and or school due to the effects of the MACP. So I re-enlisted for the needs of the Army. During the month of August I received orders to Ft. Drum, as well as my husband, our report date was December 10th. We contacted HRC because my husband requested another duty station and wanted to see What had happened. HRC stated that my
retention NCO coded my orders as if I re-enlisted to Ft. Drum which was entirely false. But we were fine with Ft. Drum in the end and didn’t argue. Last week our orders to Ft. Drum were dropped and my husband received orders to Korea unaccompanied for December 10th. HRC will not drop this assignment because of his dwell time being 49mo, even though he just returned from his 10mo rotation it did not reflect as time overseas. I understand we have to suck it up, but he came home just to turn around and leave for another year. I just want to make sure I’m not missing any vital tips or ways we can stay together. I tried to explain this the best I could, so I apologize if it’s unclear.

Also, to clarify, Retention cannot code your orders in any way. Your Retention NCO and Career Counselor don't have the ability to produce your orders or place any codes on them. You reenlisted for E1 Regular Army reenlistment. The only thing that does is change your ETS.

So the “code” part came from his branch manager. She said she could not delete the assignment because retention coded it? I’m not sure what she ment. My branch denied accompanied. If my husband were to request accompanied on his end would that possibly work?

Retention coded your husband's assignment because it's a training follow on assignment. Yours is deleted. Your branch would have to be the one to allow you to go.

If you were on assignment at the time you reenlisted you can request to have your contract renegotiated and request to follow your husband.
