I receive a combined total of 100% benefits. My question, as I receive 80% disability and 20% unemployability, in the event of my death prior to my spouse, will she be able to draw the benefit of a widows income? I have no idea. I'm commenting because I am in a similar situation, and I'd like to bump this in the feeds so the right answer will come forward. SPC Elijah J. After ten years of marriage, WHILE you are drawing 100%, at your death she will need to apply for DIC. This is just under 50% of your benefit. Their answer was: yes, spouse could receive benefits. She must re-apply. Check with VA for proper forms. Near me, the American Legion helps veterans with benefit applications.
