Capella University flexpath? Anyone attend? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/capella-university-flexpath-anyone-attend

I'm thinking about attending Capella University for my MBA in Project Management. Has anyone attended the flexpath program? It seems like more of my style of learning. I earned my BSIT degree online so the online format doesn't scare me.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Tue, 02 Feb 2016 20:50:40 -0500 Capella University flexpath? She did a traditional Masters through Penn State the first time.

It's a much more "no training wheels" approach, in that the (perceived) support is just not there. You master the concepts on your own using their study guides/books/case studies, and do the assignments. You are able to adjust the timelines to fit your needs.

If you have an understanding of the "Concept" (course, etc) it's great. If it is one of your weak areas, it can be frustrating, because you will feel like you are banging your head against a wall trying to meet their requirements. Less interaction leads to more "vagueness."

If you are focused though, you can knock them out MUCH faster (1.5-2x) than a traditional courseload though. I ended up getting my Masters in Information Management with a specialization in PM. What helped me out tremendously (and I highly recommend) is sitting for the PMP exam before you start your core classes in PM. This will allow you to save money and time. Capella will exempt you from taking any of the PM classes because you have shown the university that you're competent in the field of PM. I've been in the program for the last five years and I have to say I am very happy with it . I was able to even continue my program while deployed in Afghanistan for a year. I've had some very good professors and I make sure to engage my advisers regularly. Capella does offer a reduced fee for military personnel. If you have any questions I would be happy to provide you my best insight.

Regards,

Eloy MAJ Private RallyPoint Member Tue, 05 Feb 2019 15:09:47 -0500 2019-02-05T15:09:47-05:00 2016-02-02T20:50:40-05:00
