Can you transfer Reserve units if you've moved to a different state to take a better civilian job?

Yes, you may, SPC Private RallyPoint Member. In fact, transferring from one USAR unit to another is relatively easy. Start with your current unit chain of command.
I personally transferred from USAR units in Cincinnati, to New Orleans, to Oklahoma City, and finally to Nashville. All were for civilian employment, and I never even missed a training assembly.

Easily if your not flagged. A 4651 and 2 counseling statements are all it takes. Once you have found a unit just work with your gaining and losing HR NCOs or S1 sections to coordinate the signatures on the 4651 and get the packet pushed up. You can also request to RST with the new unit while the paperwork goes thru to avoid missing BA or having to travel an excessive distance.

Find a new unit close to where you live and work and go to their Unit Administrator or Admin NCO and ask them to help you fill out a DA Form 4651-R. They will send it thru the proper channels to get you Orders for the new unit. Generally, if your old unit is more than fifty miles away from your new residence they should process the order with no problem.

If a unit in the area of the new residential location has your MOS with rank slot open, and you aren't pending any kind of disciplinary actions, yes you can. BTW, you did a tag for SGT for USMC.

Yes, not that difficult, although you may have a longer drive depending on where there is a slot.

SPC Private RallyPoint Member One thing to remember, while the ´process is in the works, you can RST with another unit. A DA 1380 is needed for this. You will need to contact your unit to get approval, and also that of the unit you are requesting to drill with. This way you can continue if paper work is longer than normal.

The comments above are all correct, but just to be clear the DA 4651 must be executed by the losing unit. This means that it is signed by the service member, the gaining Commander, the losing Commander, then passed through the losing unit’s S1 or RPAC for processing and orders generation. This can sometimes take a couple months, so I’ll also echo the point that you should work out a plan between leadership teams to RST with your new unit if that make better logistical sense.

The only caveat to all of this is if you are currently receiving or pending an enlistment bonus tied to your current role. I command a drill sergeant unit where Soldiers get good money to come and be trainers. If they don’t complete their DS obligation before transferring units, they put that bonus in jeopardy of being either cut off or recouped. This should come up as part of your mandatory Army Reserve Career Counselor counseling during the transfer.

It's a TPU to TPU change but yes you can. You just have to make sure that you have everything situated before transferring to the new unit. It is a long process and could take a while to complete, but you should be able to drill with the new unit
