Some people want to be in a large house some people want to live in a smaller house. As for me, I could live off my retirement and VA disability. My wife was very sharp while I was on deployment the last time and found a small home for sale. It was paid for before I retired. What I get covers all of the bills puts something towards a savings account and gives my wife some spending money. I spent time studying and planning small home living far the last 8 years of my career. That has really paid off. In a year another round of long term bills is paid off offering me more freedom to travel. I look forward to that greatly. Do you mean can you live off your military retirement. Depends on your rank when you retired. Do you mean can you live off a disability? Depends on the disability.

You just haven't given enough information to answer the question.
