Can you have a disability rating from prior service and still be eligible to enter a commissioning program?

I was separated honorably from the Marines with a 40% disability rating, after my EAS I have never gone to a VA to get treatment for anything. My recruiter told me he needed my VA paperwork to submit to MEPS, I went to try and get my records but they do not have a record for me, I'm assuming because I have never visited a facility. How else would I get this information to him? I have looked high and low and cannot find anything in my records from VA either. I sent in a request to have my active duty medical records sent to me, is there anything else I would possibly need? I'm more than willing to just forgo the disability rating but I don't known how you would request to not have a rating anymore...if that even makes sense or is possible.

LCpl Jaclyn Petersen-Berger You will only be able to provide your discharge papers and any med records from when you were in. You should have a copy of those, already. If not, the VA 'should' be able to help you get a copy.

LCpl, Best thing to do is talk to a recruiter but I don’t believe there will be an issue as long as you can pass a physical and pass all the physical requirements at OCS (5 mile run, 4 mile run, APFT, road marches of various distances, etc.). I ruptured my Achilles last year, had surgery, and was still accessed onto active duty recently because I am off profile and able to complete all physical requirements of active duty. Good luck!
