Gentleman wrote a book about him and the Doctor sued him for Slander. It went to court. Under the British System the Doctors name was Defamed so the Doctor won the Case but since everything that the Author Published was the Truth. The award was 1/2 a Pence the lowest denomination in the British Currency at the time. Of course the Author had to pay court cost which were significant it was still pretty funny.Response by PO1 William "Chip" Nagel made Sep 26 at 2015 12:45 AM2015-09-26T00:45:00-04:002015-09-26T00:45:00-04:001LT Private RallyPoint Member995126<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Yes. This is common ( according to TV). As a defendant, you want to slander the prosecutions ability whether it is negligence or not following procedure, to open up your past case to give you cause for a retrial. Incompetence is an accusation you could levy on both the federal government or the prosecutors. In this case, the escapee wants to have his additional sentenced reduced to nothing for attempting to escape. He is not going to get $10 million in damages because he did not suffer $10 million worth of damages. Best case, he gets his medical treatment paid for and no sentence. Worse case, he gets an extra two years.Response by 1LT Private RallyPoint Member made Sep 26 at 2015 1:09 AM2015-09-26T01:09:46-04:002015-09-26T01:09:46-04:00Capt Seid Waddell995251<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Can you believe a lawyer had the nerve to file the suit?Response by Capt Seid Waddell made Sep 26 at 2015 2:29 AM2015-09-26T02:29:14-04:002015-09-26T02:29:14-04:00LTC Private RallyPoint Member995258<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Sure why not.
