Can you be deployed if you are an AGR soldier?

I am looking at applying for a guard AGR position in my town (unlikely I’ll get it but doesn’t hurt to try) but I want to be deployable. I’ve had a surprisingly difficult time getting a solid answer on this through google so if anyone who is on AGR can shed some light on this for me that’d be awesome.

Yes as an AGR you are deployable, however, unless released by your command or ordered by your JFHQ, you will in all likelihood only be deployed with your assigned unit.

So as an AGR, you are still deployable; however, it is much harder to actually deploy. This is because you are less likely to get released from your command as an essential AGR Soldier when say, another unit needs someone of your particular MOS/Rank (i.e. through RFFs from other units). So for the most part, AGRs only typically deploy when their actual unit deploys as a whole.

Every AGR I was associated with deployed with our units. Deploying as an individual argumentee, your unit CDR will have to let you go, and I really doubt that happens.

When I was deployed with the Air Guard, the AGR’s deployed with us. However, in today’s environment, I would say it’s unlikely you will be deployed as a AGR unless you specifically volunteer. Most Commanders would prefer to keep the AGR’s back home. Considering the limited deployments compared to 10-15 years ago, I would say the deployments are unlikely for AGR’s. However, I would enquire with the unit commander to get his/her opinion.

First I would say yes, if the unit deploys they deploy, now I know the Army Reserves back in 2007 was deploying AGR's left and right, they pulled every AGR out of my Company except the Ops SGT and sent them to Iraq with our Battalion, the 88th had some standing order that all AGR's will have deployed at least once.

Yes, you may be called up to back fill another unit.

If you are in unit on the rotation to go yes, if another unit needs your MOS at your grade, you can get the green light to be moved over to fill a slot. If a another state needs your MOS to fill a position, you may get a back fill notification.
